A quick test with one of my existing projects, replacing the framework existing ArduinoOTA library (v1.0), with JAndrassy/ArduinoOTA library (v1.1.1) fails to compile; its missing basic class members and defines. So although the library name is identical, it is definitively not a (drop-in or improved) replacement. That still leaves the question of why it is included in the PIO registry while not supporting PIO ? |

they removed it once on my request. why it is back again I don't know. I don't use PlatformIO and I don't monitor their library registry |

I like to get clear why this library is made available in the platformio registry, while at the same time the library description states:
The ArduinoOTA library that is part of the arduino espressif8266 framework does work within platformIO.
Isn't this (JAndrassy/ArduinoOTA) library supposed to be an improved direct replacement of the framework one?
What kind of problems could I expect from using this in my ESP8266/ESP32 PIO project, where the above note warns for?
(I have seen ESP8266/ESP32 PIO projects that explicitly use this library, but I haven'd studied on the differences...)
