Should Post Extension expose a "create a post" function?

I may be a elixir-noob and the %Tableau.Page{} is the thing I'm thinking of… but I'm writing an extension that creates posts and inherits the built in layouts, permalink rules, etc. Right now I'm pulling that stuff out of the tableau.post config.

I'm planning on looking at this… just putting it out there in public.

Me and Claude have written an extension that lets me take notes from a big wiki that I have and insert them into token.posts. As I do this, I'm (probably doing it wrong) but trying to get settings from Tableau.PostExtension.

Could be that I should make a complete Extension that handles both, or that I'm missing something obvious.

I guess I was imagining a Tableau.PostExtension.create(title, date, content) that would be a nice little shorthand for what I'm doing now.
