Bug description
When the date or hour is a single-digit number, extra space is placed where a number would go if it were a two-digit number. It's as if, instead of normal left-aligning the number, it's just adding an unneeded placeholder for the non-existent digit. This happens in the date/time applet (with "Custom date format" is used) and with the screensaver clock display (when "Use a custom date and time format" is used). In the panel, it shows itself as extra-wide spacing between the month and day, and before the time (see image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EtRFQjDGSj71TZnl6vcweUUHHDHlup6C/view?usp=sharing) instead of normal spacing. In the screensaver, it shows itself as the time being oddly off-set from the date (see image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hJe6IKsEoi3yyw1HP59JgEaWyPwaGUP5/view?usp=sharing).
Steps to reproduce
Turn on custom date/time settings in the date/time applet configuration or the screensaver configuration, and use a date/time format according to the provided instructions.
Expected behavior
There should not be that extra space or offset. Things should align normally.
