PowerPoint, both ways: bento.page/convert
One page now converts in both directions. Drop a
.pptxto get a deck you can edit and present, or drop a deck to get an editable PowerPoint file. The page works out what you dropped and offers what it can become, and there's a sample deck to try. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser. bento.page/import now opens this page, so old links keep working.Exported decks keep their text, shapes, pictures, tables, charts, links, speaker notes and hidden slides, and now code blocks (as editable text) and embedded documents (as a picture). Interactive states come along as hidden slides that their buttons still open. Untick the box to leave them out. After each export you get a list of anything that was approximated or left out, and on which slides. Every file is checked before it's written, so PowerPoint never asks to repair it.
Inside a deck, Save ▾ → Import PowerPoint… and Export for PowerPoint… open the page in a new tab. From a terminal:
node convert/cli.mjs deck.bento.html --to pptx.Saving you can rely on
An edit made in the moment a deck is saving, by you or by someone in a live session, used to be shown as saved while the file was still missing it. The unsaved dot now clears only when the file holds exactly what's on screen. ⌘S, auto-save and "Update this file" also wait for each other instead of writing at the same time.
Smaller things
\$stay text instead of turning into a broken formula. Please update
This release includes security fixes for live sharing. Please update: open the About dialog in any deck and the update will be offered. It's signed like every release, and your file is rewritten in place with the same content. If you share decks live, open each shared deck after updating and use Reset access once.
