If OpenClaw supplies a fully frozen
api.configwith a managed BlockRun MCP server,removeManagedBlockrunMcpServerConfig()throws at its firstdelete. The unhandled error stops registration before tools and services are registered. Catch the runtime cleanup error, but leave the persisted cleanup path unchanged.🐛 Suggested fix

Propagate non-read-only runtime config errors.
setRuntimeProviderConfig can catch errors from config reads and assignments. A frozen config should use the persisted configuration, but an accessor, proxy, or setter can throw an unrelated error. Filtering only on TypeError is also too broad. Reuse the read-only message check from removeRuntimeMcpConfig, and rethrow other errors.

Thanks @0xCheetah1. The OpenClaw 2026.10.x config freeze is a real startup break, and the Docker repro plus clean-container verification made this easy to check. I confirmed that setRuntimeProviderConfig and removeRuntimeMcpConfig were the only places register() wrote to api.config, so nothing else unguarded is left. CI is green.
Problem
OpenClaw 2026.10.x exposes a frozen plugin API config during registration. ClawRouter's
register()unconditionally assignsapi.config.models.providers.blockrun, which throws:This leaves the Gateway starting in a degraded state without BlockRun loaded and can delay
startup substantially. The testbed observed a 111.6 second startup before the Gateway became
ready without the BlockRun plugin.
The same frozen runtime config can also make managed MCP cleanup throw while deleting the
blockrunentry.Fix
injectModelsConfig().TypeErrors; unrelatederrors still propagate.
registerProvider()as the runtime registration path.Tests
Added regression coverage for frozen and mutable provider config, plus frozen managed-MCP cleanup.
Validated with:
npm test— 1,208 passed, 1 skippednpm run typechecknpm run lintnpm run buildThe unpatched behavior was reproduced against:
2026.10.50.12.29224.20.0The patched behavior was then verified in the same clean container: plugin diagnostics passed,
BlockRun registered 66 models, the Gateway health endpoint returned 200, and the local proxy
returned model data.
