Add phase diagram examples for CO2 and water - #42
A first answer to #40: two gallery examples that draw a full phase diagram on the p-T chart. The issue stays open for a built-in option.
What the examples draw
CoolPlot's "pT" diagram draws the vapour pressure curve.
The melting line comes from CoolProp (AbstractState.melting_line); for water it covers ice Ih to VII.
CoolProp does not model the solid, so the sublimation line uses a published correlation: Span and Wagner (1996) for CO2, IAPWS R14-08 (2011) for ice Ih. Both are checked against published values (dry ice at 1 atm at -78.5 deg C; ice at -20 and -40 deg C).
Shaded regions for solid, liquid and supercritical fluid (the gas keeps the plain background), the critical isotherm and isobar, the triple and critical points, and the points at 1 atm. The water chart also marks the Ih / III, III / V and V / VI triple points on the melting line.
All additions take their colours, line widths, markers and fonts from diagram.theme, so they match the default theme and follow any other one (checked with "dark").
tests/test_examples.py: one test per example (checks the printed triple point and 1 atm values), both added to the list of all examples
CHANGELOG.md: entries under Unreleased
Limitations
The extras are matplotlib artists drawn on the axes after CoolPlot, so they appear only in matplotlib output (PNG, PDF), not in SVG, Plotly or coolplot-core output, and CoolPlot's label placement does not see them. The docstrings say so. Building this into the pT chart is the follow-up for #40.
Testing
pytest tests/test_examples.py: 22 passed, 22 skipped. The skipped tests compare the Python and C++ paths, and no C++ port was installed, so the new examples have not run through that comparison yet.
sphinx-build -W: passes. Both examples appear in the gallery with their charts and thumbnails.

CoolPlot draws the vapour pressure curve; the scripts add the melting
line from CoolProp, a sublimation line from a published correlation
(Span and Wagner 1996 for CO2, IAPWS R14-08 for ice Ih), the solid,
liquid, gas and supercritical regions, and the triple and critical
points with matplotlib. A first answer to issue #40.

The boundary lines are drawn like the saturation curve, the points like
state points, the labels like isoline labels and the regions in the
theme's categorical colours, so the additions match the default theme
and follow any other theme. The gas region keeps the plain background.

- The melting line is sampled up to the highest pressure CoolProp's
melting line covers, so a wider view no longer raises.
- The ice triple points take their temperature from CoolProp's melting
line and sit on its corners; the dry ice point is read from the
sublimation line and the boiling point from CoolProp.
- Both examples print the triple point and the points at 1 atm, and the
tests check these values.

Walkthrough
The pull request adds standalone CO₂ and water phase-diagram examples. Each example plots phase boundaries, shaded regions, and characteristic points, then saves a PNG. Tests check printed phase-point values, PNG sizes, and execution in both example modes.
Changes: Phase-Diagram Examples
Layer / File(s)
Summary
CO₂ phase diagram examples/co2_phase_diagram.py
The example calculates sublimation and melting boundaries, shades solid, liquid, and supercritical regions, and marks the triple point, critical point, and dry ice at 1 atm. It saves a PNG and prints phase-point values.
Water phase diagram and example checks examples/h2o_phase_diagram.py, tests/test_examples.py, CHANGELOG.md
The example calculates and plots water phase boundaries, regions, and characteristic points. The tests check printed values and PNG sizes for both examples and include them in the Python-versus-native comparison. The changelog lists both examples.
Merge Risk: Minimal · previous review f0aaf
The examples are mergeable on the available evidence. Adding an assertion for phase-region shading would improve regression protection.

Explanation
The title "Add phase diagram examples for CO2 and water" matches the main change. The PR adds CO2 and H2O phase-diagram example scripts, tests for them in tests/test_examples.py, and changelog entries. The title is short, specific, and free of file lists or vague terms, so a teammate scanning history would understand the primary change.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 4 functions across 3 files. A rabbit watched the phase lines flow, Past triple points in charts below. CO₂ and water found their place, With shaded fields and plotted trace. The PNGs hopped safely to their home, While tests confirmed their printed tome.
CodeRabbit Verify
Run CodeRabbit Verify to test the changes in this pull request.
Add a check that the phase-region shading is drawn.
The CO₂ and water tests check only the printed text and that the PNG exceeds 10,000 bytes. Removing the ax.fill loop leaves both checks passing, so the shading can disappear without a failing test. Assert on a pixel colour inside a shaded region, or on the filled artists.

Review comment at @tests/test_examples.py at line 38:
Add an assertion in the CO₂ and water phase-diagram tests that verifies
phase-region shading is present, using a pixel color within a shaded region or
the filled artists. Keep the existing output and file-size checks.
