AppImage catalog test fails with AppRun.wrapped permission denied #88
After retesting AppImage/appimage.github.io#5456 with the v2.1.0 release (Graph.Prime_2.1.0_amd64.AppImage), the catalog test failed with a permission error:
/run/firejail/appimage/AppRun: line 12: /run/firejail/appimage/AppRun.wrapped: Permission denied
ERROR: The application exited within 11 seconds instead of showing a window
The catalog bot notes that AppRun.wrapped (or cached launchers in Tauri / linuxdeploy builds) may be packaged with mode 0770 and owned by root, preventing non-root users from executing it. It suggests making the AppDir readable and executable before packaging (chmod -R a+rX AppDir, chmod a+x on AppRun and AppRun.wrapped).
The test also flagged a naming warning:
WARNING: File name 'Graph.Prime': contains a dot between words; use _ between words instead (e.g. 'Graph_Prime'), unless the dot is part of the application's name
Tasks
Ensure files in AppDir (specifically AppRun.wrapped) are world-readable and executable before packaging.
Add a permission check to CI / smoke tests to catch this before release.
Consider renaming the package/executable to avoid the dot warning if desired.
Fixed in dev via #89. AppDir permissions are normalized in scripts/fix-appimage.sh, @tauri-apps/cli is updated to 2.12.1, and an AppImage mode check is added to CI. The next release will include the fix.
