Adds a Tags accordion to the left sidebar of FreshRSS, listing article
tags with the number of articles in parentheses, sorted by popularity. Clicking
a tag filters the article feed (?search=%23mytag), and a ➕ button saves it
to user filters.
These are indeed the tags coming from the <category> elements of feeds — the
ones you search for with #mytag — and not the "labels" manually created
on articles.
cd /path/to/FreshRSS/extensions
git clone <this repo> xExtension-TagEZ
# or: unzip the archive hereThen, in FreshRSS: Configuration → Extensions → TagEZ → Enable.
| Setting | Values | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Displayed count | All articles / Unread | All |
| Sort order | Article count descending / Alphabetical | Article count |
| Position in sidebar | Top / Bottom | Bottom |
| Minimum number of articles | ≥ 1 | 1 |
| Maximum number of tags | 0 = unlimited | 100 |
A filter field automatically appears once more than 10 tags are displayed.
The ➕ button to the left of each tag adds it to FreshRSS's user filters,
using the expression #thetag as the search and the tag as the name. The
filter then appears in the "My filters" menu just like any manually created
filter, and remains editable from Configuration → Filters.
The button turns into ⭐ and a second click removes the filter. Favorite tags are moved to the top of the accordion, separated from the rest by a divider: in a long list, a favorite buried in the middle wouldn't be of much use. They also bypass the "minimum number of articles" threshold and the display limit — a favorite should never disappear from the list.
