A Windows file explorer that's actually fast.
Folder sizes show up instantly. Search across all your drives finishes before you lift your finger off the key. And it still feels like Windows: the real right-click menu, drag and drop, copy/paste that works with Explorer. Just quicker and better looking.

- Instant sizes. Strider reads the NTFS file table directly and keeps it live, so sizes never lag behind what's on disk.
- Search that keeps up with you. Type as you go, filter with
ext:png,size:>1gb,dm:today,dc:thisweek, quotes, wildcards or regex. Search one folder or everything. - Everything Explorer does. The real Windows context menu (7-Zip, Git, Send to, Open with and the rest), copy/cut/paste with Explorer, drag in and out, Recycle Bin, undo, Properties, "Open in Strider" from Explorer.
- Built for keyboards and mice alike. Tabs (
Ctrl+T), quick look (Space), group by (Ctrl+G), address bar that also launchescmd, wtorcode .in the current folder. - Looks the part. Dark/light theme, accent colors, optional Mica/Acrylic, folder and drive colors, image preview with zoom and EXIF-correct rotation.
- Quiet updates. Strider updates itself in the background. No prompts, no pop-ups.
- Grab
Strider_<version>_x64-setup.exefrom the latest release. - Run it. Windows SmartScreen may say the publisher is unknown because the installer isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway.
- Choose what you want: the indexer service (recommended, it's what makes sizes and search instant), an "Open in Strider" entry in Explorer's right-click menu, shortcuts. Click Install.
That's it. Strider opens when it's done.
Uninstall: Settings → Apps → Strider, or run strider.exe --uninstall. You can keep or remove your settings and the search index.
- The indexer runs as a small Windows service so Strider itself never needs admin rights. It only reads. It never changes your files.
- Strider indexes NTFS drives. Other filesystems (exFAT, network shares) still browse fine, just without instant sizes and search.
- Want Strider to open folders instead of Explorer? Settings → Behavior → Open folders with Strider. Fully reversible.
