Summary

Move model-specific cache-manager behavior out of the shared Mamba cache-manager package. The common package retains the pool lifecycle, layout and acceptance data, state protocol, and legacy compatibility surface.

  • Mamba2, GDN, KDA, and Qwen4 own their replay/intermediate state in their respective module directories. GDN does not inherit Mamba2 replay behavior.
  • _initialize_spec_state() supplies an optional implementation of the MambaState protocol. The V2 base delegates buffer access, binding, slot reset, accepted-state updates, layer-cache construction, and shutdown through that protocol.
  • Kimi K3 and GLM 5-next retain model-owned KDA suspend/resume, transferred-state seeding, and replay-pool binding. The common base does not inspect concrete replay types.
  • Qwen4 owns PLE/QSA layout access; Mamba2 owns its random-seed accessor. Registered persistent-buffer roles drive warmup cleanup, preserving the existing scratch/index/seed lifecycle.

Architecture and interface documentation (NVIDIA internal).

Validation-related fixes

  • Preserve the existing beam-search selection and timeout in a separate B200 sampler invocation, and keep the Qwen4 pool-contract test in CPU CI without a duplicate GPU invocation.
  • Keep fused-MoE reference GEMM and activation in FP32 until the standalone quantizer, matching the fused kernel without relaxing tolerances.
  • Limit CPU shard-test intra-op threads and restore them afterward; close transfer workers and KV cache managers on the owning CUDA device; retain forward-error survival coverage with the upstream request fixture.
  • Reserve at least 128 KiB of backing storage for small CSA2 native FMHA staging pools while retaining logical shapes and initialization behavior. BF16/FP8 shared and independent pools have regression coverage. This addresses the documented Blackwell TMA fetch issue.
  • Compare GLM indexer cost against the inherited estimator bound to the GLM manager, so both sides include the same KDA replay cost. Exercise replay enabled and disabled on CPU with the original exact byte assertions.
  • Supply the real ModelConfig default sparse_attention_config=None in the mixed-precision validation fixture; preserve all rejection and acceptance assertions.
  • Initialize resource-free sleep/RPC test shells so destructors do not access missing lifecycle fields; preserve all assertions and validate with unraisable warnings treated as errors.
  • Synchronize the vendor-bot heartbeat test with blocked discovery, preventing an early heartbeat from falsely signaling that the expected log has been emitted.
  • Regenerate serving-schema snapshots with the canonical generator after upstream/configuration integration.

Validation

Current PR head: c2673a7921. Upstream fe180a952d merges cleanly.

  • KDA resume integration regression: 1577 passed, 1 skipped, including cache/model managers, numerical suspend/resume with retained and relocated slots, fused-verify parity, factory/budget tests, executor fixtures, LLM args, and serving schemas. The skipped case requires SM107; validation ran on B200.
  • CSA2 regression on B200 with the CI image/native wheel: 610 passed, 12 skipped.
  • Focused test fixes: GLM 231 passed; mixed-precision CPU 12 passed, 15 deselected; sleep/RPC 85 passed with unraisable warnings treated as errors; vendor bot 260 passed.
  • The 17 MSA cases from the local attention diagnostic passed after configuring their project-local compiler caches.
  • Normal commit hooks and DCO sign-off passed. LLM args manifest and serving schemas regenerated without further changes; schema --check passed.
  • Full CI #66155 finished SUCCESS on daed5d156d with --disable-fail-fast and default unfiltered single/multi-GPU scope:
    • x86 single-GPU: 71,075 passed, 12,844 skipped, 0 failed.
    • SBSA single-GPU: 16,842 passed, 223 skipped, 0 failed.
    • x86 multi-GPU: 626 passed, 153 skipped, 0 failed.
    • SBSA multi-GPU: 4,497 passed, 560 skipped, 0 failed.
    • The exact KDA pending-draft and offload/resume tests passed. The prior B300 NIXL port-collision failure did not recur. H100 workspace and result-collector agent failures recovered through Jenkins retries.
    • Ten B200 multi-GPU groups were skipped by CI-owned maintenance settings. Upstream has restored those groups; their execution must be verified in the next run.
  • The two subsequent commits stabilize the sleep/RPC fixture cleanup and vendor heartbeat test. Full CI #66178 is running for c2673a7921, requested with /bot run --disable-fail-fast. The exact commit and full default single/multi-GPU parameters are verified: disable_fail_fast=true, reuse_test=-1, skip_test=false, normal SBSA, and no stage/GPU/backend filters. Current-head full success is still pending.

This change modularizes Mamba cache management across several models without altering externally observable behavior for typical configurations. One confirmed issue remains: a unit test still patches a symbol that this PR's cleanup removed from the shared utility module, which will make that specific test fail during setup and block a normal test run until fixed. A second, previously reported concern about crashing on list-valued end-of-sequence configuration during PLE cache setup could not be confirmed as resolved or still present with the available evidence, so it should be checked before merging.

Explanation

The description follows the repository template in part. It has a Summary section that explains the modularization goal. It also has a Validation section with detailed CI and test results. It does not use the required title format. The template's Description, Test Coverage, and PR Checklist headings are absent. The Summary does not state the problem being solved in plain terms, although it describes the change. The Validation section lists extensive results but does not map them to specific new test coverage for the new code paths. Several items, such as validation-related fixes, cover unrelated changes (sampler timeouts, FP32 MoE reference, CSA2 staging pool sizing, sleep/RPC fixtures, vendor heartbeat test, schema snapshots). The description does not explain why these unrelated changes belong in this PR. The CI status for the current head is still pending.

Resolution

  1. Restructure the description to use the template headings: Description, Test Coverage, and PR Checklist. 2. Add a title that follows the format [JIRA ticket/NVBugs ID/GitHub issue/None][type] Summary. The current PR title is not shown in the provided context, so verify it. 3. In the Description section, state the problem and solution in short form. Explain why the Validation-related fixes are part of this PR, or move them to separate PRs. 4. In the Test Coverage section, list the specific tests that protect the new replay, state, and Qwen4 cache-manager code paths. 5. Complete the PR Checklist, and state whether the PR introduces API changes. The diff removes public APIs, including get_mamba_ssm_rand_seed, the Qwen4 PLE helpers, and the Qwen35 intermediate-state properties. Add the api-breaking label and include BREAKING in the title if these removals are intended. 6. Remove or replace the internal-only architecture link if reviewers outside NVIDIA cannot access it.

Keep the V2 pool, slot, and snapshot lifecycle shared while moving model-specific state, replay, QSA, and PLE behavior into model modules. Register persistent recurrent buffer roles and typed views in the base manager so warmup cleanup preserves scratch, indices, seeds, and replay bookkeeping. Add lifecycle and cleanup regression coverage.

Stop both sides of the transfer setup, then explicitly shut down its KV cache managers on the creating CUDA device. Leaving manager destruction to Python GC can run it on a transfer thread without a CUDA context and poison other live managers. Add a regression that collects managers on such a thread and then performs a transfer through a healthy setup. The old worker-only cleanup reproduces CUDA201 in a negative control; the fixed complete file passes all 56 tests.

Place the retention-config fixture field at the same location as the independently landed upstream fix. Otherwise the automatic PR merge inserts it twice and fails Python parsing. The resulting test file matches upstream and preserves all fixture values. Validation: all 21 CPU forward-error survival tests pass.

Keep KDA suspend/resume, draft records, replay pool binding, and transferred-state seeding in the model-owned managers while integrating the upstream executor interface refactor. Adapt factory fixtures to public engine properties and consolidate the duplicate KDA draft-record regression.

PR_Github #80306 [ run ] triggered by Bot. Commit: c7a3133 Link to invocation

Keep at least 128 KiB mapped behind native sparse FMHA staging pools while preserving logical shapes and initialization behavior. Cover small shared and independent BF16/FP8 pools. This avoids Blackwell TMA MMU faults when the encoded row domain exceeds the small backing allocation.

Compare indexer storage against the inherited cache estimator bound to the GLM manager, so both sides include the same KDA replay cost. Exercise both replay gates on CPU and retain exact token and snapshot byte assertions across TP, ADP, PP, MTP, and draft-only layouts.

PR_Github #80379 [ run ] triggered by Bot. Commit: daed5d1 Link to invocation

Mark resource-free BaseWorker shells as shut down and IPC proxy shells as never started. Their destructors otherwise access missing lifecycle fields and can re-enter pytest unraisable reporting while tracemalloc imports on SBSA. Preserve every sleep, wakeup, and RPC assertion; all 85 tests pass with unraisable warnings promoted to errors.

Ignore pre-discovery heartbeat callbacks in the blocked-discovery test. A callback can run before poll starts, setting the test event despite emitting no operation heartbeat and releasing the API wait prematurely. Preserve the health snapshot and log assertions; all 260 vendor bot tests pass.
