compare the full `multimodal_embed_mask_cumsum` sequence against the expected
cumulative values, including unchanged values at text and framing-token
positions, so misplaced increments fail. Add an inline comment explaining the
assertion’s purpose.
- Around line 270-271: Update the assertions around tokens and
params.get_item_layout() to verify the exact token sequence: a four-token image
run before token 12, followed by a nine-token image run. Preserve the existing
item-layout assertion so the test checks both token ordering and reported
metadata.

Two whole-PR items and one request on the description.
Stacked on #20468. The diff includes the request-ownership commits from that PR, so this change's own delta (the metadata record, the partition-driven slicer, the handoff tuple) cannot be reviewed in isolation and the two will conflict on merge. Please land #20468 first and rebase, or close it into this one and say so in the title/description. AGENTS.md asks for one concern per PR.
Removed interfaces with no shim or release note. DisaggPrefillMultimodalInputs, MultimodalEncoderItemMetadata and the get_mm_encoder_item_metadata hook are gone, and build_disagg_prefill_multimodal_inputs changed both its return type and gained a keyword-only mm_hashes that [tensorrt_llm/llmapi/llm.py:981](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/20391/files#diff-4f4789a9552c0458fa969d6f4e418893fe52d5533d1f7c383296a8388497bd79R981)-988 now passes unconditionally. An out-of-tree processor hits a TypeError on the first E/P request, and one that still overrides the old metadata hook is never called, so item scheduling silently degrades (the wrapper at [tensorrt_llm/inputs/registry.py:1534](https://github.com/NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM/pull/20391/files#diff-34567c3d44579a4e959cdc4ceaefcc344eef1adaf2c34f4f111fc1a1f06f908bR1534) only looks up the new name). Please add a guard that raises when a processor still defines get_mm_encoder_item_metadata, and add a line under docs/source/release-notes.md listing the removed names and the new tuple contract. The new developer guide documents the change well; it just is not where upgrade readers look.
Description. The description still contains an auto-generated "Dev Engineer Review / QA Engineer Review" block claiming the diff is 10 files of import reformatting. It contradicts the actual change; please remove it. The description does name the follow-ups honestly (remote E/P/D and full Gemma4 unvalidated).
Everything else is inline. One defensive point not anchored to a visible line: MultimodalParams.get_item_layout() returns ((), ()) when no record is present but raises when a record lacks output rows. encode_multimodal_by_groups then splits the group output into zero rows and returns an empty tensor without error. If a raw-payload request can reach that path without a record (processors whose __call__ does not emit one when hashing has fallen back), that should raise like the no-rows case does.

Compare Gemma4 output lengths as sequences after MultimodalItemMetadata normalizes them to immutable tuples. The image and video assertions were still comparing tuples directly with lists. Update Cosmos3 Edge's cache fixture to publish common item metadata, unpack the inherited (prompt_token_ids, MultimodalParams) prefill result, and carry those Params through embedding fusion. Use the current encoder cache initializer directly. The model already inherits the unified processor and encoder contracts, so it needs no separate compatibility implementation. Validation: the exact two Gemma4 processor tests fail on the rebased code and pass on clean main and with these fixes, using small synthetic tokenizer and processor assets with real image/video preprocessing and no weights. The Cosmos3 Edge CPU suite changes from 7 passed / 1 failed to 8 passed; clean main also passes all 8. Full checkpoint-based accuracy is unverified. Signed-off-by: Yechan Kim <161688079+yechank-nvidia@users.noreply.github.com>
Read Qwen4 modeling_v2 request order from the shared item metadata during admission and from MultimodalParams.item_metadata during row assembly. Both paths still read removed order attributes, rejecting mixed image/video requests even when preprocessing had supplied a valid common record. Preserve grid-derived per-item row spans and all existing payload checks. Migrate the existing admission and splice fixtures to the same contract. Keep test lists unchanged. Validation: all Qwen4 modeling_v2 CPU suites pass (65 tests), including admission, splice, chunk slicing and video frame grouping. The named B300 accuracy test sends mixed media in both orders, but its SM103 whole-model accuracy and MTP acceptance length remain unverified. Description
Multimodal full-request encoding, item scheduling, and E/P handoff use separate representations of item order and output lengths. This can misalign selected payloads and cache keys when prompt order differs from payload order.
Use one
MultimodalItemMetadatarecord, owned by the existingMultimodalParams, throughout input preparation and execution.get_mm_item_metadata, for item order, optional encoder costs, output rows, and input partitions. Remove the old metadata tuple, encoder-only hook, and duplicate order/length fallbacks. Unknown costs remainNone; full-request encoding does not require item scheduling.LlmRequest.py_multimodal_params. Encoder and LLM chunk Params are execution views; they do not own request cache references.DisaggPrefillMultimodalInputswith(prompt_token_ids, MultimodalParams)and a common embedding constructor. Preserve deepstack, mRoPE, sparse video layouts, and embedding lifetimes.Public LLM signatures/configuration and the Dynamo/C++ transport are unchanged. Model-specific batching policy remains a follow-up. Custom processors must migrate to the common metadata hook/type; local E/P hooks return the new Params result.
Performance
CPU encoder-input preparation: PR base
3ac4e61255→ measured PR revision44078d3e18.Eight items/request; median of 9 paired samples × 20 repetitions with executor GC defaults. These are CPU preparation batch sizes, not serving concurrency. Encoder/LLM inference and E2E latency/throughput are excluded.
CPU check at

Rebased onto main
abb94ab8fc, including Gemma4 item scheduling, at headb99b3a1c2e. Preserve main's LoRA checkpoint source; migrate Gemma4 and Gemma4 Unified to the common metadata hook. Whole-video selection uses declared frame spans. Unified keeps tower-specific costs and item scheduling disabled.trtllm::allreduce_pg_by_nameoperator, so full runtime/GPU validation awaits new-head CI. Earlier runtime and performance results below remain pinned to their measured revisions.3d2be8d393validation: 1,368 CPU tests (+2 subtests) passed, covering input preparation, encoder selection/profiling, scheduling/cache ownership, E/P handoff, and protected public LLM APIs; 15 skipped. Four Nemotron processor checks fail identically on main in this environment: two have a +1 prompt-token length difference, and two read a Git LFS pointer instead of the video asset.9bf910a281): five audited sync sites went from 1 to 0. Small Parakeet/Gemma4 audio encoders match prior assembly exactly (random weights). CUDA-only metadata fallbacks and EVS can still synchronize.b2be7967f028exactly for layout, hashes, tokens, text, and logits. Both workers share one physical H200. Five Dynamo contract fixtures passed against pinned revision92a28f8.The earlier full CPU/schema checks used genuine PostMerge 3032 native artifacts. Remote/multi-GPU E/P/D, full Gemma4-26B equivalence, and AIPerf serving measurements remain unvalidated.
