17-22: 🩺 Stability & Availability | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low valueDo not treat every locator download error as "not file mode".
isFileModereturns false for anyDownloaderror. This includes transient rclone or network failures. On a transient failure for a standalone backup, runRestoreandrunVerifyfall back torepo.Open. The user then sees a misleading repository error instead of the real download failure. This is recoverable, and a retry works. Distinguish not-found errors from other errors, or include the locator error in the fallback error message.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

This job needs git history, but GoReleaser receives
GITHUB_TOKENthrough its environment. Setpersist-credentials: falseso checkout does not also leave that token in the local git configuration for later steps. Checkout v4 persists it by default. (raw.githubusercontent.com)Based on learnings: checkout jobs that only read history should disable persisted credentials.

Plain-language walkthrough of keygen, init, backup, snapshots, verify, restore, prune, and Telegram notify. Assumes nothing beyond a working gloak binary and an rclone remote.
Notify after backup, restore, verify, check, and prune now sends a short multi-line status report instead of a bare "completed" string. Prune includes kept, dead, and garbage chunk counts. Dry-run prune still does not notify. Also drop a competitor name from the prune changelog entry and show the richer format in the workflow guide.
getDefaultDir now returns GLOAK_DIR when set (with ~ expanded), so keygen, init, backup, restore, verify, snapshots, prune, check, and setup all resolve keys from one override. backup no longer hardcodes ~/.gloak/identity.txt as a Kong default; it falls back like the other commands. Document GLOAK_DIR in the workflow guide and changelog.
Stop the spinner via pterm Success so the final frame is replaced by the SUCCESS prefix instead of a bare stop. Applies to check, verify, init, backup, and upload.
Add internal/config with a TOML loader for <gloak-dir>/config.toml. Notify credentials now come from the [telegram] section, and GLOAK_TELEGRAM_TOKEN / GLOAK_TELEGRAM_CHAT_ID override the file when set. A missing config file stays silent; a malformed one warns and notify keeps its best-effort behavior. Uses github.com/BurntSushi/toml so the config can grow sections later without another format change.
Add .goreleaser.yaml (linux/darwin/windows, amd64/arm64, tar.gz/zip, checksums, changelog filtered to feat/fix/perf entries) and a release workflow that runs goreleaser on v* tag pushes. Drop CHANGELOG.md in favor of generated GitHub Release notes; the old file remains reachable in git history. Nothing is pushed from here.
- treat rclone exit code 3 (missing path) as an empty listing in check, snapshots, prune, and index loading instead of a hard error - guard backup and prune with an advisory lock under the repo locks/ folder so concurrent runs cannot step on each other - restore: validate the snapshot root name, keep files inside the destination directory, and apply recorded directory modes after the files are written - resolve the backup root with EvalSymlinks before walking it - prune: reject negative retention counts and stop compacting the index when listing or deleting an epoch fails - redact the Telegram token from transport errors and status output - remove stale age keys when init re-runs after a failed first attempt - error out when a --path-filter matches nothing in a snapshot - stop tracking docs/superpowers (files stay locally, ignored by *.md) - fix docs/WORKFLOW.md examples: GLOAK_DIR before keygen, drop redundant -i flags, use --path-filter, and correct the corruption advice
- pin the release workflow actions to full commit SHAs and stop checkout from persisting credentials - point the check garbage warning at gloak prune --yes instead of the old "later phase" text - check the output file close error in file restore before reporting success, since some filesystems surface write errors only at close - truncate Telegram text on a rune boundary so messages stay valid UTF-8, with tests

- disable persisted git credentials in the CodeQL workflow checkout - clean and validate the restore path filter before matching entries - reject symlinked components at restore targets before creating or writing files
The CLI never shipped resume or cleanup commands and has no local upload state, so the workflow diagram, quick start, feature bullets, design notes, and command table no longer mention them.
The storage shape section only described standalone upload folders. Add the repository layout (repo.json, keys, data, snapshots, index) and correct the standalone manifest field list.
