S-PASS (StakePass)

Turn event attendance into a verifiable financial commitment.

S-PASS is a blockchain-based event attendance and incentive platform designed to reduce no-shows, simplify attendance verification, and make event incentives more transparent.

Built on Avalanche Fuji, S-PASS uses a refundable attendee stake: attendees commit a stake when registering and can receive the applicable refund after verified attendance. Event rules can also direct no-show stakes toward defined reward pools, while sponsors can fund attendee incentives.

The Problem

Event organizers face a recurring problem: people register, but they do not always show up.

No-shows can lead to:

  • Unused event capacity
  • Unpredictable attendance
  • Manual attendance verification
  • Administrative overhead
  • Difficulty proving participation
  • Inefficient reward and incentive distribution

Traditional registration systems generally record intent to attend, not a meaningful commitment to attend.

The S-PASS Solution

S-PASS introduces a simple attendance commitment:

Register → Stake → Attend → Verify → Refund → Reward

  1. Organizer creates an event and defines the refundable attendance stake.
  2. Attendee registers and commits the required stake.
  3. Attendee checks in using the event's QR-based attendance flow.
  4. Attendance is verified through the smart-contract workflow.
  5. Eligible attendees receive their applicable stake refund.
  6. No-show stakes can be redistributed according to the event rules.
  7. Sponsors can fund rewards for eligible attendees.

The result is a more accountable attendance process with transparent on-chain settlement.

Ideal Customer Profile

Primary ICP — Event Organizers

S-PASS is initially focused on organizers running:

  • Paid or limited-capacity events
  • Conferences and workshops
  • Community and networking events
  • University and student events
  • Technology and Web3 events
  • Events where no-shows create meaningful costs or operational problems

Secondary Users

Attendees — receive a financial incentive to attend and a transparent participation experience.

Sponsors — can fund rewards and incentives for verified attendees.

The initial go-to-market focus is organizers, because organizers control event distribution and can bring attendees onto the platform through every event they host.

Value Proposition

For organizers

Reduce no-shows and make attendance verifiable without relying entirely on manual processes.

For attendees

Get rewarded for showing up while retaining eligibility for your refundable stake.

For sponsors

Fund transparent, verifiable attendee incentives.

Why Blockchain?

Blockchain is used where it provides a clear advantage:

  • Transparent staking and settlement
  • Verifiable attendance-related transactions
  • Programmable refund and reward rules
  • Reduced dependence on a centralized settlement record
  • Portable on-chain transaction history

S-PASS treats blockchain as infrastructure for trust and settlement, not as the product's entire value proposition.

Core Features

  • React + TypeScript frontend
  • Solidity smart contracts
  • Avalanche Fuji deployment
  • Wallet connection
  • Event creation and management
  • Refundable attendee staking
  • QR-based check-in
  • Attendance verification
  • Automatic stake refund workflow
  • No-show stake redistribution
  • Sponsor-funded rewards
  • Organizer, attendee, and sponsor workflows

Business Model

Initial revenue model

S-PASS is designed around an organizer-facing revenue model, with potential revenue from:

  • Transaction/service fees associated with supported event activity
  • Premium organizer features
  • Organizer subscription plans as the platform scales
  • Sponsor and partner reward programs

The initial strategy is to prove value with pilot organizers before optimizing pricing and packaging.

The economic flywheel

More organizers → more events → more attendees → more verified attendance activity → stronger network → more organizer value.

Go-To-Market Strategy

Phase 1 — Kenya

Start with communities and organizers where attendance accountability matters.

Initial targets include:

  • Technology communities
  • Web3 communities
  • Universities and student organizations
  • Conference and workshop organizers
  • Professional communities
  • Startup and innovation ecosystems

Phase 2 — Community-led growth

Use successful events as case studies and encourage organizers to refer other organizers.

Phase 3 — Partnerships

Build distribution through:

  • Universities
  • Event communities
  • Technology ecosystems
  • Web3 organizations
  • Event platforms and partners
  • Sponsors and ecosystem programs

Customer Acquisition Strategy

The first objective is not mass consumer acquisition.

It is to acquire the first group of high-value organizers.

Initial approach

  1. Identify organizers with recurring attendance/no-show problems.
  2. Offer a pilot event.
  3. Measure attendance and verification outcomes.
  4. Turn successful pilots into case studies.
  5. Use organizer referrals to acquire additional events.
  6. Expand through community and ecosystem partnerships.

Each organizer can become a distribution channel because every event introduces S-PASS to a new group of attendees.

Distribution Strategy

S-PASS follows an organizer-first distribution model.

Instead of acquiring every attendee individually, S-PASS can acquire users through the organizations and communities already hosting events.

Organizer → Event → Attendees

This creates a scalable distribution loop where every successful event can introduce new users to the platform.

Defensibility

The long-term moat is not simply the smart contracts.

Potential defensibility comes from combining:

  • Organizer relationships
  • Historical attendance and participation data
  • Attendee reputation and participation history
  • Growing attendee and organizer network
  • Event-management integrations
  • Sponsor relationships
  • On-chain transaction and verification history
  • Switching costs created by an established event workflow

As the network grows, S-PASS can build a richer layer of verifiable event participation data that becomes increasingly difficult for a new entrant to replicate.

Technical Architecture

The core blockchain logic is implemented in Solidity under contracts/.

The smart-contract workflow covers:

  • Event management
  • Attendee registration
  • Staking
  • Attendance verification
  • Refunds
  • No-show redistribution
  • Sponsor-funded rewards
