What

The second half of the one-word name (#219 did the brand's sources and marks). Every place outside app/ that names us now says allthings, and every lockup is allthings/<topic>.

Unchanged:

  • the a/ logo, at/<topic> and "see you at/<topic>";
  • the two sentences;
  • "All Things Web" wherever it is history: the about page's former names, the launch kit's formerName, formerDomain/siteOrigins, migrations, backfill data and fixtures of real Luma names.

Site (web)

  • Wordmark and lockups: the header wordmark (aria-label="allthings, home"), home's hero, event pages, /brand, every page title (Title is now `allthings/${string}`), RSS, og:site_name, JSON-LD's organization, the web manifest's name and short_name, the iCal PRODID, and the drafts preview's title.
  • Prose: about, code of conduct, people and person pages, and the footer's nav label. The person page's section id becomes at-allthings.
  • get_community (from Describe all things by its name and two sentences in get_community #203): the doc comment and the mission say "allthings brings…". name follows siteName.
  • MCP tool titles, descriptions and error text: "List allthings events…", "About allthings". The parity test still holds them to the app's word for word, with one deliberate difference: the app's "all things" maps to "allthings". It also checks the app still says "all things", so the mapping can't go quietly stale. The served tools and get_community must now match no "all things" at all, not only "all things web".

Fit of the one-word lockup

"allthings/" is about 4% narrower than "all things/" (4.61 em against 4.81 em at −4.5%; see #219).

  • Home's hero: home sizes its lockup to fill its column. type.heroL goes from 19.5 to 20.3 cqi, so the first line fills 93.6% of the column, as "all things/" filled 93.8% before. The 156 px cap is unchanged.
  • Size threshold: home and event pages set a topic large when it is no longer than the lockup's first line, "allthings/".length, now 10 characters, not 11. The tests' edge cases move with it: "typescript" (10) is large and "observables" (11) is a step down. No published topic is 11 characters long, so no real page changes size.

Core

  • Templates and drafts: promo drafts, Luma descriptions (**[allthings](…)** in the footer), every social draft, the planning format and the launch kit. "All Things Web is now allthings", and the subject is "These evenings are now allthings". Golden files are regenerated with UPDATE_GOLDEN=1, and every count drops by one character.
  • topicOf: names written the new way give their topic, so allthings/effect and allthings effect both give "effect". "allthings" and "allthings/_" alone give none. isTopic and the database's CHECK are unchanged.
  • Social post search: a post saying "allthings" earns the name's +3, now labelled "says allthings". X's people query asks for "allthings" OR "all things". Bluesky adds an allthings <topic> query after the name's.
  • Docs and comments: README and comments. The luma create usage example is now --name "allthings/effect", which topicOf reads.

CLI, plugin and the rest

  • CLI: the README, the package description, and the test fixtures for the server's error text and get_community. The CLI's help already said allthings.
  • Plugin: the manifest description, author and display name, the marketplace display name and both skills. Version 0.2.2, as Point the CLI, the agent plugin and the fixtures script at allthings.dev #202 bumped it.
  • Repo files: the README title, the Makefile banner, the Pages index (<title>allthings</title>, <h1>allthings/_</h1>), the installer comment and infra's Worker comment.

Visual check (local Worker, PGlite catalog)

  • Home, 1440 px: the hero reads allthings/ over effect_. The first line is 707 px of a 755 px column (93.6%) at 153 px. The header wordmark is 146 px wide.
  • Home, 375 px: the first line is 319 of 341 px. No horizontal scroll.
  • Event page: allthings/effect_ sits on one line at 112 px on desktop. At 375 px it breaks after the slash, at the <wbr>, with no overflow. The title is allthings/effect, og:site_name is allthings, and the card's alt text is "allthings/effect · Wed Oct 14 · 2:18 PM · East Cut · CodeRabbit".
  • OG card: the event card draws allthings/ over effect_, signed a/. Its version hash now includes the word (Write the name as one word, allthings/_, in the brand's foundations, tokens, marks and link-preview cards #219), so cached previews refresh.

Verified

  • core: 2238 tests pass. web: 1073 pass. brand: 57. CLI: 26.
  • prettier and tsc are clean in brand, core, web and cli.
  • uv run --locked generate.py --check: 30 marks up to date.
  • No migration. Nothing was deployed.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Branding

    • Updated the product name to allthings across the website, CLI, plugin, event materials, and promotional content.
    • Updated event titles, topic labels, page metadata, and calendar labels to use the new spelling.
  • Improvements

    • Event names with spaced, unspaced, or slash-separated “All Things” prefixes are recognized more consistently.
    • Increased the hero text size slightly.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes

Change: Other

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 9ee85

The naming update appears ready to merge after normal checks; no actionable merge-blocking risk is established.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 9ee85

The naming changes preserve the existing separation between discovering posts, reviewing them, and publishing them. No introduced security issue was established, but incomplete coverage prevents a stronger assurance.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The demonstrated exposure change is additional externally authored social content entering the candidate-review pipeline and newly recognized event-name topics influencing future short-link choices. Neither inspected path introduces a new publication privilege or route-registration authority.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The synchronization layer retains its pending-only post writer, and public event pages retain approved-only selection. Externally supplied event names also remain subject to topic-shape validation; shared-event curation prevents them from acquiring a derived brand topic.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Post persistence retains URL uniqueness and insert-or-existing behavior. Rediscovery, including concurrent insertion, preserves the existing row's review status rather than resetting hidden or approved posts. Interrupted discovery can leave earlier additions committed, but that behavior predates this PR and repetition uses the same deduplication path.
