The allthings/_ takeover for Claude Code, shipped inside the existing plugin at plugins/allthings/. It is one plugin for every host: the Agent Plugins plugin.json and mcp.json stay as they are (version bumped 0.2.2 → 0.3.0), and a Claude Code manifest at .claude-plugin/plugin.json adds the mod, two themes and an output style. It takes its MCP server from that same mcp.json (https://allthings.dev/mcp since #202), so the band follows whatever URL the plugin configures.

Try it

claude --plugin-dir plugins/allthings

This needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later in the terminal. The claude on Erik's PATH is 2.1.281, so update first. To install it from the marketplace this PR adds at the repo root: claude plugin marketplace add allthingsweb-dev/allthingsweb, then claude plugin install allthings@allthings.

What it does

  • Tool rows in the slash grammar: read/src/app.ts, edit/home.tsx, bash/bun test, search/"curation", fetch/allthings.dev, agent/<description>, and <server>/<tool> for MCP tools. The slash is Bridge on light themes and Glow on dark ones. The status dot, the error colour, Interrupted and the result row stay as Claude Code draws them. Any other detail Claude Code's row shows (line range, glob, agent type) follows in dim, so nothing is hidden. Two kinds of row are left exactly as Claude Code draws them:
    • rows inside an expanded group, because they carry their output inline;
    • the Desktop app's rows, because they expand and collapse themselves.
  • Spinner: allthings/_ shipping in SoMa…. The cursor blinks every 500 ms through $.state, so only the spinner redraws, well inside the redraw limits. Each line pairs one of 20 verbs with one of 36 real neighborhoods, starting with the five in the brief (FiDi, never "Financial District"), and moves on every 6 s. Claude Code's elapsed time and tokens stay. A state message, and the Desktop app's step text, are kept after the wordmark. With reduceMotion on, the cursor stays solid.
  • Next-evening band: a Night band reading date · allthings/<topic>_ · neighborhood · host, with an I'm in → button that opens the Luma URL.
    • Data comes from list_events (upcoming, limit 1) via $.http.fetch to the plugin's configured MCP URL.
    • It is cached in $.store and refreshed about every 30 minutes, or once the evening ends.
    • States: none / upcoming / tonight · in 2h 14m / live now / after-click see you at/<topic>. The after-click state is remembered across sessions.
    • If the site can't be reached the mod fails quietly: a cached evening stays for 2 hours, then the band goes. There are no toasts.
    • Headless runs make no background requests.
    • The neighborhood comes from the venue table in brand/foundations.md (201 Spear St is East Cut), with a ZIP fallback inside SF only.
  • Commands: /at, /at <slug> and /imin. They are registered immediate and answered by the mod, so there is no Claude turn. /at draws its row as a card (themed slash, links); the text Claude reads is the same card in plain text.
  • Themes: "allthings night" and "allthings paper", plus the opt-in "allthings" output style (keep-coding-instructions: true, no force-for-plugin).
  • Hack mode (/hack start|submit) is v2. It is noted in the README; there is no code for it.

Checks

  • Tests: 79 harness tests under plugins/allthings/tests (claude plugin test), with no session and no network; every MCP answer is a fixture. They cover:
    • every tool's row, the slash colour by theme, each status state, the Desktop app's rows and rows in an expanded group;
    • spinner frames, blink, rotation, message and Desktop paths, and reduce motion;
    • band states (none, offline, upcoming, today, live, ended, after-click, remembered, survey, narrow), refresh cadence, cache and grace, the endpoint switching with the config, /clear, a store that can't be written, and headless runs;
    • /at, /at <slug>, unknown slug, nothing ahead, offline, the card drawing, /imin with and without a browser, and a command name that's already taken.
  • Typecheck: tsc -p plugins/allthings against the types Claude Code lays beside the mod.
  • Brand: brand/tests/claude-plugin.test.ts checks the themes and the mod's palette against all-things.tokens.json.
  • CI: the new .github/workflows/plugin.yaml runs validate --strict (marketplace and plugin), the typecheck and the tests with Claude Code 2.1.293 pinned. lint.yaml lays the mod's types before oxlint, because its tsconfig extends them. brand.yaml now also runs on changes to the plugin's themes and palette.
  • app/: no new tests there. app/tests/agent-plugin.test.ts is untouched; only the root manifest's version changed.

claude plugin validate plugins/allthings (2.1.293):

Validating hooks: /private/tmp/claude-501/atw/plugins/allthings/hooks/hooks.json
❯ ./register.tsx hooks: session.start, classic.SessionStart{source=clear|resume|fork}, config.set{key=theme|reduceMotion}, turn.start, turn.complete, ui.render{component=Spinner}, ui.render{component=ToolGroup}, ui.render{component=ToolUse}, ui.render{component=AbovePrompt}, command.run{command=at}, command.run{command=imin}, ui.render{component=CommandOutput, props has {command=at}}
❯ ./register.tsx calls: $.clock.after, $.clock.every, $.clock.now, $.command.register (via offer), $.config.list (via readSettings), $.env.get (via readSettings), $.fs.read (via endpointFor), $.http.fetch (via callTool), $.process.run (via openUrl), $.state.get, $.state.set, $.store.get (via stored), $.store.set (via save), $.ui.resolve, $.ui.toast (via sayImIn)

What I could and couldn't verify

  • Verified headless (claude -p): /at and /at <slug> against the live MCP (allthingsweb.dev, before Point the CLI, the agent plugin and the fixtures script at allthings.dev #202 landed) gave a correct card (allthings/agent-setups, FiDi, hosted at Sentry). /at and /imin answer "no evening on the calendar right now" today, because list_events has nothing upcoming. A marketplace install into a throwaway HOME loads the mod, the MCP server and the output style.
  • Verified in a real interactive 2.1.293 session: the spinner's text, allthings/_ shipping in the Sunset…, with its blinking cursor. That check read the terminal's text; no screenshot was taken.
  • Not verified visually: the colours, the band (only a stand-in server had an evening), the tool rows on screen, the /at card on screen, the themes in /theme, and anything in the Desktop app. The harness checks each tree is valid for the terminal and desktop element tables, not how they paint. Erik, please try the one-liner above.

Notes

  • Night colour: the brand token is #1B1729 (brand/all-things.tokens.json); the brief said #1C1236. I used the token, and the brand test holds the plugin to it.
  • Terminal background: Claude Code themes can't paint the terminal's background. The README asks you to set it to Night or Paper.
  • Codex: the Agent Plugins / Codex side ignores .claude-plugin/, themes/ and output-styles/. It may read hooks/hooks.json, whose only key is modules.

631-645: Keep hosts and talks out of the cache, or keep both in the cache and in the evening.

rawOf saves only the summary fields, so hosts and talks are dropped. This is correct for the band, because list_events does not return those fields. No fix is required.

@coderabbitai review

42aae1f addresses the review, including the findings outside the diff threads:

  • Shared in-flight refresh (the one actionable comment): fixed. A test proves it, and the thread is resolved.
  • ast-grep regexp-from-variable in city.ts: fixed. Known venues are now matched by whole words, with no RegExp built from data. A new unit test shows 145 Fremont St no longer matches 45 Fremont St.
  • markdownlint MD041 in output-styles/allthings.md: fixed. The body now opens with # allthings.
  • OpenGrep command-injection.exec-js on city.ts, rows.ts and evenings.ts: false positives. Those lines are RegExp.prototype.exec on string literals (/\b(94\d{3})\b/.exec(plain)). There is no child_process here: a mod runs with no Node, and the only process it starts is $.process.run with an argv array, which uses no shell.
  • LanguageTool spelling of "allthings": intended. It is the brand name, one word and lowercase.
  • LanguageTool "GitHub" capitalization: intended. The flagged text is the path .github/workflows/plugin.yaml.
  • rawOf keeps hosts and talks out of the cache: agreed, no change. The band reads list_events, which doesn't return them, and /at asks get_event fresh.
