Speech to text from a global hotkey

ezspeak is an Electron app. Press the hotkey, speak, and it pastes the transcript at the cursor. The default hotkey is Right Command on macOS and Right Ctrl on Windows and Linux. Transcription uses the OpenAI Whisper API (whisper-1) or a local whisper.cpp binary. The site is ezspeak.app.

package.json already says MIT. The LICENSE file is that same license so GitHub can detect it.

Run it

npm install
npm start

Enter an OpenAI API key when the app asks, or use the local whisper.cpp model (npm run download-model fetches it; npm run build downloads the model and packages the app).

Hold the hotkey to record, or press it to toggle. The text is written to the clipboard and pasted.
