AB//LABS builds and shares tools and resources for intelligence work on illicit trade: maritime security, supply chains and the open sources that let you see both. Everything we publish is gathered on one page, the Library.
AB//LABS began as Atlas|Bear Labs, the technical side of Atlas|Bear, and is now a company of its own. The two still work together, and our repositories keep the atlas-bear name on GitHub for now.
- AI-Enhanced OSINT: a practical guide to using AI in intelligence work, with the OPSEC rules that apply to every tool. Also a website.
- Maritime and Supply Chain OSINT Tools: the tools and data sources we use to track ships, cargo and trade, each verified, with who runs it and what it costs. Also a website and a data file.
- Recommended Reading: books, reports and papers for people working on illicit trade, with full citations and downloads for reference managers. Also a website.
- cue-kit: turn a video into frames and a timestamped transcript that a language model can read.
- equasis-cli: look up vessels, inspections and owners in Equasis from the command line, in batches.
- MARA: our maritime security intelligence platform. Feedback and the public roadmap live in mara-roadmap; our newsletter is Waterline.
AB//LABS provides intelligence and support across maritime, defence and logistics: vessel tracking and port assessments, operational intelligence before and during deployments, threat and risk analysis, and advisory work on building analytical capability and training teams. The tools and lists here come out of that work.
Atlas|Bear provides intelligence advisory and operational support to organisations deploying people, technology and capital in difficult markets, with the fieldwork, logistics and professional services that need specialist knowledge. Every Atlas|Bear engagement supports independent fieldwork, impact investment and critical projects in vulnerable communities worldwide, simply by operating within its network.
The Atlas|Bear Academy runs training and professional development for people who want to do this work well, online and in person; our people teach on it. The Mombasa Method is its flagship on-demand programme. For custom training, write to courier@atlasbear.co.
Each resource has an issue form for proposals and corrections, written criteria for what goes in, and a changelog. We sweep the guide and the lists twice a year and release each sweep. Pull requests are welcome; the repositories explain their formats. Please read our contributing guidelines and community guidelines first.
