Some follow on work using the Metadata classes. Improves how support files (such as metadata and log files) are handled throughout the codebase. It centralizes logic for identifying support files, ensures consistent filtering of these files during dataset processing, and adds utility methods for working with metadata. Additionally, it cleans up redundant code and improves documentation and error handling related to metadata files.
