Summary

This PR adds full support for embedding the Eventyay ticket widget across event pages. Organizers can now embed ticket shops by pasting official Eventyay embed snippets (HTML, script tags, or Markdown) as well as direct event URLs. It also adds ticket widget management across the admin metabox, the frontend event modal, and the admin event dashboard.

What's Changed

  • Snippet & URL Sanitization: Organizers can paste raw Eventyay embed snippets (HTML embed code, <eventyay-widget> tags, script tags, Markdown, or raw URLs). The input automatically extracts and validates the correct event shop URL.
  • Admin & Frontend Event Editing:
    • Updated the admin event settings to use a multi-line input with helpful instructions.
    • Added the Ticket Widget field to the frontend event creation and editing modal.
    • Added inline editing support and persistence in the admin event dashboard.
  • Modern Widget Display:
    • Updated the event template to render the official <eventyay-widget> markup with an accessible <noscript> fallback.
  • Smooth Checkout Flow:
    • Attendees can view ticket types, tiers, and pricing directly on the WordPress event page.
    • Clicking checkout or buy redirects attendees directly to the Eventyay checkout page to complete payment securely without cross-origin or third-party cookie restrictions.
    • Made the redirect behavior filterable for future flexibility.
  • Header Clean-Up:
    • Removed the duplicate "Get Tickets" button from the top navigation bar to keep the header focused.
  • Testing:
    • Added comprehensive unit tests covering all widget input formats (plain URLs, HTML embed snippets, script tags, Markdown, and invalid inputs).

How to Test

  1. Edit an event in the WP Admin or via the frontend modal.
  2. Paste an official Eventyay widget HTML snippet, Markdown snippet, or direct event URL.
  3. Save the event and verify the widget loads and displays ticket tiers on the single event page.
  4. Select a ticket and click Buy/Register to verify it seamlessly directs to checkout on Eventyay.
  5. Verify inline editing in the Event Dashboard correctly displays and updates the widget URL.

Summary by Sourcery

Integrate Eventyay ticket widgets throughout event management and public event pages with validated widget inputs and streamlined ticket checkout.

New Features:

  • Add Eventyay ticket widget support across event creation, editing, dashboards, and public event pages.
  • Allow organizers to provide Eventyay widget snippets, Markdown links, or direct ticket shop URLs for embedded ticket sales.

Bug Fixes:

  • Prevent stale ticket widget configuration from reappearing after an event-level widget is cleared.

Enhancements:

  • Render the official Eventyay widget with a no-JavaScript fallback and configurable checkout redirect behavior.
  • Remove the duplicate header registration or ticket button from event pages.

Tests:

  • Add unit coverage for supported widget input formats, URL validation, asset extraction, metadata sanitization, and cleared widget settings.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Add an optional ticket widget field to event creation, editing, and event settings. It accepts Eventyay embed code, Markdown links, or ticket shop URLs.
    • Display configured ticket widgets on event pages, with an Eventyay link available when JavaScript is unavailable.
    • Show the configured widget URL in event settings and carry it through event editing.
  • Changes
    • Registration buttons are no longer displayed in the event header.
    • Ticket widget actions no longer trigger automatic redirects.
    • Ticket widget inputs accept HTTPS links from supported ticket-shop domains.

Reviewer's Guide

The PR adds an end-to-end Eventyay ticket-widget integration: a shared sanitizer extracts validated event URLs from pasted embed formats, all admin/frontend editing paths persist that value, single-event pages render the official custom element with a no-JavaScript fallback and filterable checkout redirects, and unit tests cover the input and template behavior.

Walkthrough

The changes add support for saving ticket-widget embed code or direct URLs, sanitizing those inputs, and editing the value in event forms and dashboard settings. The event view resolves and renders the Eventyay widget. The redirect behavior and event-header registration-button rendering also change.

Changes: Ticket Widget URL and Embed Support

Layer / File(s) Summary
Normalize ticket-widget input
includes/meta/class-wpfaevent-meta-event.php, tests/unit/TicketWidgetInputTest.php
The ticket-widget meta field uses a sanitizer that extracts and normalizes URLs from supported widget markup, Markdown, or direct URL input. Tests cover accepted formats, invalid values, post-meta sanitization, and template-controller behavior.
Capture and save widget URLs
admin/partials/meta-boxes/class-wpfaevent-admin-event-metabox.php, admin/partials/ajax-handlers/class-wpfaevent-event-handler.php, public/partials/events/event-modal.php, public/partials/events/event-card.php, public/js/wpfaevent-events.js, public/css/templates/events.css
Admin and public event forms accept embed code or ticket-shop URLs. Event creation and updates sanitize and save the value. Event cards expose it to the edit form, which loads or clears the field as needed.
Expose widget URLs in dashboard
admin/class-wpfaevent-event-dashboard-data.php, admin/class-wpfaevent-event-dashboard-page.php, admin/partials/event-dashboard.php
Dashboard event data and settings include the ticket-widget URL. The settings view displays the URL as a link or shows a not-configured message.
Resolve and render the ticket widget
includes/helpers/class-wpfaevent-event-template-controller.php, public/templates/single-wpfa-event.php, public/partials/header.php, public/css/templates/event.css, tests/unit/TicketWidgetInputTest.php
The template controller resolves widget URLs and assets. The event template renders an Eventyay custom element and a no-JavaScript message with a shop link. The redirect behavior and registration-button visibility are updated.

+
+		$sanitized_url = esc_url_raw( $url );
</code_context>
<issue_to_address>
**issue (bug_risk):** A script-only embed such as `<script src="https://dev.eventyay.com/widget/v1.en.js"></script>` is normalized to `https://dev.eventyay.com/` after the widget asset suffix is stripped, even though the input contains no event identifier. The resulting homepage URL is saved as the ticket shop URL and the frontend builds a widget for the wrong location.

**Triggers:** When an organizer pastes only the Eventyay widget script tag rather than a snippet containing an event attribute or event URL.

**Suggested fix:** Reject script-only asset URLs unless an event URL can be extracted from another part of the input.

```suggestion
		// Reject script-only widget asset URLs when no event URL was extracted.
		if ( preg_match( '#/widget/v1(?:\.[a-z]{2})?\.js$#i', $url ) ) {
			return '';
		}
		// If URL points to a widget asset (.../widget/v1.css or .../widget/v1.en.js), strip asset suffix.
		$url = (string) preg_replace( '#/widget/v1(?:\.[a-z]{2})?\.(?:css|js)$#i', '', $url );
```
</issue_to_address>

Sourcery assessment

Needs a human reviewer. 1 finding to address first, and the persisted widget URL now controls where attendees are sent to purchase tickets, so a bad extraction or configuration could route users to the wrong Eventyay shop or checkout and potentially cause an irreversible payment. Reverting would stop future misrouting but would not undo purchases or other external actions that already occurred.

🟡 Minor · Use the Pretix widget contract for pretix.eu URLs. · single-wpfa-event.php:317-335

public/templates/single-wpfa-event.php:317-335
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Use the Pretix widget contract for pretix.eu URLs.

The sanitizer accepts Pretix event URLs, but the template always renders <eventyay-widget> and the controller generates version-1 assets. Pretix documents <pretix-widget> with widget/v2.css and widget/v2.en.js. The current markup can therefore remain empty for valid Pretix events. The direct shop link is only a fallback.

Select the element and asset version from the event URL host.

the post-meta update and dashboard JSON update remain consistent if writing JSON
fails. Commit both updates together or restore the prior post-meta value on
failure, keeping the existing success and error responses intact.

Review comments at @includes/meta/class-wpfaevent-meta-event.php:
- Around line 1300-1303: Update the event-attribute matching in the sanitizer to
require whitespace before the `event` attribute, so names such as `data-event`
are not treated as `event`. Preserve matching for `eventyay-widget`,
`pretix-widget`, and `div` elements and continue extracting the value from a
quoted `event` attribute.
