feat(email): add the email plugin and its message package - #315
A new email plugin. It registers with the server and does nothing yet.
A message package inside it that reads raw email:
Parse reads one message under limits the caller sets: total size, part count, nested containers, and the length of the Content-Type and Content-Disposition fields.
Header helpers for Message-ID lists, References, Outlook's Thread-Index, reply and forward tags in a subject, and addresses.
Classify spots automated mail, bounces, abuse reports and read receipts. Mark spots encrypted, signed, invite and winmail.dat mail.
Snippet cuts quoted replies and signatures out of a preview. Sanitize makes mail HTML safe to show.
New dependencies: enmime v2.5.0 and bluemonday v1.0.27. golang.org/x/net moves to v0.62.0 for GO-2026-6860.
A lint rule keeps the package free of AlphOne imports, so it can move to a shared module if another product needs it.
CodeScene skips its complexity rules in generated _gen.go files. The plugin wiring gains one branch for each plugin.
Why
This is the first step of the email channel. Later steps receive mail, store it and show it. Mail comes from anyone, so every slow input we found has a limit and a test with a deadline.
Testing Instructions
GOWORK=off go test -race -cover ./plugins/email/... passes with 100 percent coverage on both packages.
GOWORK=off go test -run '^$' -fuzz=FuzzParseIDsAnswersCleanUniqueIDs -fuzztime=30s ./plugins/email/message/ finds nothing.
go run ./cmd/pluginwire changes no file.
golangci-lint run reports no issue.

Walkthrough
The change adds and registers an email plugin. Its message package parses raw email under caller-provided limits and provides helpers for message content, addresses, threading, classification, previews, and HTML sanitization.
Changes: Email plugin and message processing
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Register the email plugin plugins/email/email.go, plugins/email/plugin.json, plugins/email/*_test.go, cmd/alphone/plugins_gen.go, internal/graphroot/registry_gen.go, .codescene/code-health-rules.json
The email plugin provides registration and lifecycle methods. Both generated registries include it and collect email-specific registration errors. The CodeScene configuration adds a rule set for generated Go files.
The package defines message and attachment values, parses raw email with caller-provided limits, and converts parsed content into message values. Tests and fixtures cover parsing, limits, attachments, inline images, and varied email formats. The lint configuration restricts imports in the message package, and the module adds parser and sanitizer dependencies.
Helpers normalize and filter addresses, parse and format message IDs and references, normalize subjects, and decode Outlook Thread-Index values.
Classify automated and special messages plugins/email/message/automated.go, plugins/email/message/special.go, corresponding tests, plugins/email/message/testdata/*
Classification identifies automated mail and report types. Marking identifies encryption, signatures, calendar invite methods, and Winmail content.
Build previews and sanitize HTML plugins/email/message/snippet.go, plugins/email/message/sanitize.go, corresponding tests, plugins/email/message/testdata/*
Snippet extraction removes recognized quote and signature sections and clips text by rune count. HTML sanitization applies URL, link, image, and style policies.

Explanation
Issue #314 is open and directly linked. The PR adds the no-op email plugin and registers it without a screen, setting, table, or route. The standalone message package provides bounded parsing, normalized addresses, subject and thread helpers, text, sanitized HTML, attachments, inline images, classifications, special-message marks, and snippets. The package has no AlphOne imports, and .golangci.yml enforces this rule. Tests cover the requested client styles, message types, limits, and Message-ID fuzzing. The requested CI vulnerability check is a non-coding gate, so its result does not change this coding assessment.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
Most changes support issue #314. The new parser dependencies and their transitive entries support the message package, and the x/net update supports the stated vulnerability requirement. The go.mod diff also upgrades indirect github.com/fatih/color from v1.18.0 to v1.19.0. No linked issue requirement or email implementation needs this unrelated upgrade.
Resolution
Revert the github.com/fatih/color upgrade to v1.18.0, or provide a documented email-scope reason that requires v1.19.0.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 48.06% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 129 functions across 29 files.
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Remove the "how" clause from the mediaField docblock.
The clause "read as enmime reads a header" describes how the function works. The path instruction allows a docblock to state only what the declaration does.

Revalidate rewritten image URLs before returning sanitized HTML.
bluemonday v1.0.27 validates the original src value before it invokes RewriteSrc, then serializes the callback’s mutated URL without validating it again. A caller can therefore rewrite an accepted HTTPS or cid URL to javascript: or another disallowed scheme, and Sanitize can return that URL despite its safe-HTML contract.
Run a second policy pass after rewriting. Allow relative URLs in that pass to preserve the existing cid-to-/files/... behavior.

Drop the full-text fallback so quote-only and signature-only previews stay empty.
When ownText returns nothing, Snippet falls back to the full text. A message with no writer-authored lines can therefore produce a preview that contains only quoted or signature material. Examples:
A bare forward with no note. The ---------- Forwarded message --------- marker ends ownText before any line is kept, so the forwarded body becomes the preview.
A reply that only quotes the previous message.
A message whose only content is a signature, such as -- \r\nMaria Perez\r\n184467235. The preview becomes -- Maria Perez 184467235.
This conflicts with the Snippet docblock and with the requested behavior, which is a preview that omits quoted replies and signatures while the full text is kept. The Text field already keeps the full text, so an empty preview loses no content.
The only quoted text case in snippet_test.go pins the current fallback output, > Would you like the quote by email? >. Its expected value must change to "" with this fix.
