Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes Merge Risk: 🟠 High · up to The runtime template override can escape its configured directory on Windows when template names are externally influenced, allowing unintended local files to be read and used as outgoing mail content. This high-impact security issue should be fixed before merge; the CI trigger and SMTP-auth test also need follow-up. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

In `@mailkit/smtp/smtp_test.go`:
- Line 257: Update the credential test around the relay/sendErr assertion to use
an SMTP AUTH-capable fixture instead of the current go-smtp-mock relay;
configure it to record or validate the authentication exchange, then assert the
configured credentials are exercised and validated rather than accepting the
server-does-not-support-SMTP-AUTH error.
In `@mailkit/templates.go`:
- Line 57: Update the name validation condition in the template-loading flow to
reject both forward-slash and backslash separators before calling filepath.Join,
preserving the existing invalid-name behavior; add coverage verifying that
..\invite.tmpl returns fs.ErrInvalid.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Run CI for every branch push.
branches: [main] excludes direct pushes to every non-main branch. This conflicts with the stated CI-on-every-push objective. Remove the branch restriction, or include all supported branches.

Closes #1
What
Adds mailkit as the first module of this repository, with the repository CI that will run every module added later.
The module holds two things. A one method Sender seam with a Message and three refusals every implementation answers, so a second provider is another package rather than a rewrite. And a template renderer where a file's first non-blank line is the subject and the rest is the body, over a default filesystem the caller supplies, with a named directory whose files replace those defaults by filename and are read at render time.
Two implementations ship. An SMTP sender over go-mail that refuses an unusable relay configuration at construction, including a half filled credential pair and credentials offered without transport security. And a test double that keeps messages instead of delivering them and answers exactly the refusals a delivering sender answers, including a cancelled context, so a consumer's unit tests cannot pass on a message that would fail in production.
62 tests. Coverage is 97.3 percent for mailkit and 100 percent for both smtp and testkit.
Why
Every application that sends mail otherwise wires its own SMTP client and bakes its wording into the binary. An operator then cannot reword an invitation without a rebuild, and a test suite cannot see what was sent without a real relay.
Testing Instructions
None. Point a consumer at a real relay only when one exists to point at.
