Summary

  • Vendor openssl in git2 (vendored-openssl feature) so release binaries don't depend on the host's system openssl version.
  • Add build-binaries job to release.yml: on a new tag, natively builds git-task/gtask for macOS (arm64 + x86_64) and Linux (arm64 + x86_64) and uploads each as a .tar.gz release asset.

Prep step for a Homebrew tap — the tap formula (separate homebrew-tap repo, not part of this PR) will point at these prebuilt tarballs instead of building from source on the user's machine.

Test plan

  • cargo build / cargo build --release locally with vendored-openssl — compiles clean, binary runs.
  • .github/workflows/release.yml YAML validated (python3 -c "import yaml; yaml.safe_load(...)").
  • First real tag push after merge — confirm all 4 binaries build and attach to the GitHub Release.

Vendors openssl in git2 so the binary is self-contained (no runtime
dependency on the host's openssl version), and adds a release job that
builds git-task/gtask natively for macOS (arm64+x86_64) and Linux
(arm64+x86_64) and uploads them as release assets. Prep for a Homebrew
tap formula, which will download these prebuilt tarballs.
