Emberscape is a 2D pixel art platformer game - currently in development - where you play as a camper who must keep his campfire lit in order to survive. On top of this, the player must consume food to stay healthy all whilst gathering resources each night to keep the fire stoked. The player must survive as many nights as possible until they run out of fuel. This project showcases my skills in game development, pixel art creation, and programming in C# within the Godot engine environment as well as my competency in object oriented programming.
- Hand-crafted pixel art assets created using Aseprite
- Seamless animation integration triggered by code
- Flexible inventory management supporting various container types (Player, Crate, Logpile, Campfire)
- Item stacking and quantity display
- Intuitive item transfer between inventories
- Player-environment interactions
- Custom signal system for event handling
- Real-time display of game information, including UI for inventories and interactable game objects
- Smooth transitions and opacity changes for enhanced user experience
- C#
- Godot Engine: Open source game development engine
- Aseprite: Used for creating custom pixel art assets
- Godot's Resource Management System: For efficient handling of game assets and scenes
- Utilization of Godot's node-based architecture for efficient game object management
- Implementation of custom C# scripts for game logic and systems
- Integration of Godot's built-in physics and collision detection systems
- Efficient resource loading and scene instantiation using Godot's ResourceLoader
- Develop menu system, including game over screen and game reset
- Implement shop trading station
- Make tiles consume a torch to light up
- Polish crafting system to streamline UI experience
- Implement system to progressively scale player malnourishment with fuel consumption rate as nights progress
Emberscape is currently a work in progress. Come back soon to see more progress!
