Draft: browser reproduction pending. This proposal does not currently establish an upstream bug and should not be merged as a demonstrated autofill fix.
The FormData test mocks browser behavior. It does not prove that a supported password manager omits input events, or that values survive intervening React renders. The current inputs are controlled, so reading FormData only at submit cannot protect a DOM-only value from a prior render.
The read-only behavior supports Shoppy's custom headless controller, which keeps the form mounted while submitting. KernelManagedAuth replaces the form with LoadingState during submission, so this is not a demonstrated defect in the standard upstream flow.
Before revisiting autofill changes, reproduce against unpatched 0.5.4 using iOS Safari Keychain and Chrome Android password manager. If a missing-event case is observed, evaluate uncontrolled inputs and include a real browser regression test. No such device reproduction is currently available.
