NilTerm - an ANSI BBS terminal for the Amiga
============================================
NilTerm calls BBSes the way SyncTERM does on a PC: its own screen with 80
columns of the IBM PC font in the 16 PC colours, a dialing directory with
auto-login, a status bar, scrollback, session capture, and ZMODEM downloads
that start by themselves. Telnet, rlogin, raw TCP, or a modem on the serial
port; an Amiga screen mode (Topaz, Latin-1) for Amiga BBSes; modem-speed
emulation for ANSI animations; iCE colours. The full manual is NilTerm.guide.
NEEDS
AmigaOS 3.0+ on a 68020 or better, and a TCP/IP stack (Roadshow, AmiTCP,
Miami, or an emulator's bsdsocket emulation) - or just a modem. A 640x400
screen mode: a graphics card, or the chipset's High Res Laced.
INSTALLING
Double-click Install_NilTerm. It copies the NilTerm drawer (the program,
its icon, this ReadMe and the manual) where you choose. An update replaces
the program and the manual and keeps your dialing directory and settings
(they live in ENVARC:).
By hand: copy the NilTerm drawer anywhere. That's all it needs.
Use the .lha: a .zip can't carry the AmigaDOS protection bits. After
unpacking a .zip, run Protect NilTerm/NilTerm +e (the installer does it
for you).
USING IT
Double-click NilTerm: the dialing directory opens.
A add a system E edit D delete C quick connect host:port
S settings Return call it Q quit
A system's entry holds its connection (telnet / raw / rlogin / modem),
address or phone number, user name + password (auto-login), screen (PC or
Amiga), line speed, iCE colours and download folder.
On a call:
Alt+D directory Alt+H hang up Alt+B scrollback Alt+C capture
Alt+L send login Alt+U upload Alt+R receive Alt+S settings
Alt+Up/Down line speed Alt+X quit
Amiga+C copy the screen Amiga+V paste Help the keys
(Capture moved from Alt+L to Alt+C in 1.2, as in SyncTERM.)
ZMODEM downloads start by themselves; Esc cancels a transfer. Downloads go
to the system's own folder (set in its directory entry) or the one in
Settings.
From a Shell: NilTerm HOST=bbs.example.org PORT=23 calls straight away.
FILES
ENVARC:NilTerm.lst the dialing directory (passwords in it are NOT
encrypted)
ENVARC:NilTerm.prefs the settings
