Summary

  • Adds only .github/workflows/use-pr-linker.yml on release-1.3.x.

Test plan

  • 1 file changed, 0 deletions

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Pull requests are now automatically linked to related issues when they are opened, edited, updated, reopened, or closed. This keeps issue tracking connected to pull request activity across its lifecycle and makes related work easier to follow.

Adds .github/workflows/use-pr-linker.yml on top of the current base branch.

Walkthrough

Adds a GitHub Actions workflow that invokes a reusable PR-to-issue linker workflow for selected pull request events.

PR-to-issue linking

Layer / File(s) Summary
Configure PR-to-issue linking
.github/workflows/use-pr-linker.yml
The workflow calls the reusable linker on pull requests that are opened, edited, synchronized, reopened, or closed. It grants contents and pull request read access, issue write access, and passes the ACTION_PAT secret.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 9bc95

This workflow gives an issue-writing token to automation that any external pull request can trigger, and the automation's code can change without review. Restrict which pull requests can trigger it and pin the reusable workflow before merging.

Restrict which PRs can use the issue-writing token.

pull_request_target lets a fork PR invoke this job. The called workflow accepts issue references from the PR title or body, including references to other repositories, and writes comments with ACTION_PAT. An untrusted author can therefore make the bot comment in any referenced repository that the PAT can access. Restrict eligible PRs or enforce a repository allowlist before passing the PAT. Example restriction if only same-repository PRs need linking

Remove the unused GITHUB_TOKEN issue-write permission.

The called workflow sends its issue-write requests with ACTION_PAT. Its issues: write setting also grants the reusable job a separate write-capable GITHUB_TOKEN. Remove that grant unless another step requires it. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Pin the reusable workflow to a reviewed commit.

@develop can resolve to different workflow code on later runs. That code receives ACTION_PAT on pull_request_target events. Pin a reviewed commit SHA so a change in mosip/kattu cannot silently change the code that receives the PAT. (docs.github.com)
