Extract contextual group notification envelope and normalization contracts - #59
Group notifications previously exposed raw create/link/unlink shapes without the ordered identity guards and normalized decisions required by a consumer. This adds independently pinned envelope, LINK and UNLINK contracts qualified against preserved WA Web 2.3000.1047483476 modules.
The envelope IR retains ordered guards, exact device destination identity, local participant_pn diagnostic recovery, contextual username/history gates, action-marker handling and final projection. LINK/UNLINK preserve dynamic actions, integrity/parent/subgroup rules, undefined fallbacks and explicitly unsupported inherited Object.prototype results. Complex child payloads remain a separately qualified adapter boundary.
Envelope extraction rejects changes to opaque module setup, transitive helpers, local action helpers and the action callback using SHA-256 fingerprints over AST-selected regions. This is snapshot qualification, not a general purity analysis. Modeled prefix/projection changes still pass through AST lowering; new prefix bindings cannot redirect opaque dependencies or remove root captures. Diagnostic template caching must resolve to the exact factory binding established by the qualified frame. At most one diagnostic catch is supported; competing initialization of a shared cache is not represented and rejects. Any opaque source change requires independent requalification. Regression coverage includes mapped arguments, parameter-initializer scopes, lexical collisions, diagnostic-global writes, delete, aliased property mutations and mutating calls.
172 original-JS cases and 11 independent IR mutations passed. The envelope suite compares original source and emitted IR on 29 inputs, including results, errors, telemetry and ordered accessor reads.
All three emitted contracts are unchanged and byte-identical to consumer fixtures.
The exact module/helper hashes, spans, bundle set and mocks are recorded in tests/conformance/groups. Account flags, Wid/country conversion, telemetry and binary adapters are explicit mocks; authenticated client behavior, storage and ACK execution are outside qualification. Existing notification indices, manifest schema and global pin are unchanged. No runtime JS is introduced.
Consumer: oxidezap/whatsapp-rust#1817 pins adbe317 with byte-identical contracts. Codex completed producer review on this head without findings; final CI remains pending. Keep draft until final CI and review complete; no merge is requested.

Thanks for using CodeRabbit! It's free for OSS, and your support helps us grow. If you like it, consider giving us a shout-out.
Please review this draft too. Focus on fail-closed AST evaluation, finite-domain completeness including object keys and unknown inputs, helper/module spans, official differential independence, and any unsupported constructs silently accepted. This is explicitly an incomplete normalized-notification draft, not merge-ready.
[Medium impact] No code issue found in this review blocks merging; keep the PR draft until final CI and review complete, as requested.

Updated the head with structural helper discovery and reproducible export of the 25 official oracle cases used by the Rust consumer. Please review the final head, including callback field uniqueness and unsupported-expression rejection. The initial CI passed all substantive steps; this draft remains partial and must not merge yet.
Final extraction head is now 0e718db. Added rejection tests for extra accessor arguments and duplicate callback output fields, so discarded group payload projection cannot hide those effects. Please review this exact head. The linked consumer will pin this commit explicitly, with no global IR pin change.
Review head 2292a11. The official differential now uses its own source-derived input domain rather than asking IR which types to test. Two deliberate IR mutations are rejected. All 89 wa-notif tests and 20 wa-ir schema tests pass locally, as do targeted clippy and 25 JS → IR cases. Linked consumer draft: oxidezap/whatsapp-rust#1817. Both remain explicitly partial, opt-in, and not merge-ready.

Please review final head 1fa5217, including ordered envelope lowering, captured-state/import-binding rejection, LINK/UNLINK contracts and original-source evidence. This remains draft while CI and review complete.
Please review current head 70c20f2. Recovery commits address the eight open threads with scope/default/pattern and dispatched-LINK qualification, distinct undefined evaluation, and an interpreter for the emitted envelope IR. Local checks pass: 108 wa-notif tests, 20 wa-ir unit plus 4 integration tests, all-target/all-feature wa-notif Clippy, 172 original-source group cases, 11 independent IR mutations and 12 main schema documents. No runtime JS or public consumer adapter changes. CI and this review still gate draft removal.
Please review head d4e16ba. The previous review of 70c20f2 completed; its three new findings are fixed with regressions for null-action exceptions, initializer-free var redeclarations and marker fall-through. This head also rejects unqualified arrow scopes, with a regression reproduced failing before the fix. Local validation: 111 wa-notif tests, all-target/all-feature Clippy, 29 source/IR envelope comparisons with five mutations and no-op redeclaration checks. The head merges cleanly with main after #60/#61/#62. No generated contract bytes changed. CI and final review still gate readiness.
Please review ae4ea6e. The review of d4e16ba completed and its three findings are fixed: marker prefix state, loader ++/-- writes and forged node identity through a string sentinel. Added regression mutations; 113 wa-notif tests, all-target/all-feature Clippy and 29 envelope comparisons pass. The prior head also passed complete workspace tests and all-feature/all-target workspace Clippy in an integration checkout with main after #60/#61/#62. Generated contract bytes are unchanged. Final CI and review still gate readiness.

Reject switch-scoped bindings that shadow the LINK child
When another dispatch arm declares a lexical binding named t, that binding shadows the child parameter throughout the switch, but LINK qualification still treats its receivers as the parameter. Inserting case "extra":let t;return null; immediately after switch(a){ successfully extracts unchanged LINK rows and fields, although executing the modified original callback for parent_group throws ReferenceError: Cannot access 't' before initialization. Fresh evidence beyond the previously fixed dispatch-binding collisions is that the shadowing declaration resides in a different case and leaves the qualified LINK arm unchanged. Check switch-wide lexical bindings before projecting the arm, or conservatively reject collisions with the dispatched child.

Qualify module initialization before resolving LINK constants
When the complete handler replaces an imported constant object during initialization, import-binding validation still accepts it and LINK extraction publishes stale actions. Inserting o("WAWebGroupType").GROUP_ACTIONS={PARENT_GROUP_LINK:"changed",SUB_GROUP_LINK:"changed",SIBLING_GROUP_LINK:"changed"}; at the start of the factory successfully extracts parent_group_link, but executing that modified complete module through the preserved harness returns changed for a parent-group LINK. Fresh evidence beyond the previously fixed envelope property-write issue is that the independent LINK entry point does not apply the module-frame qualification protecting envelope extraction. Qualify these initialization effects or reject them before resolving imported constants.

Qualify module initialization before extracting UNLINK constants
When the handler factory replaces an imported constant object during initialization, extract_unlink still publishes the original constants instead of the runtime actions. I verified that inserting o("WAWebGroupType").GROUP_ACTIONS={PARENT_GROUP_UNLINK:"changed"}; at the beginning of the factory is accepted and emits parent_group_unlink, while executing the modified complete module through the preserved harness returns changed for a parent-group UNLINK without a reason. Fresh evidence beyond the earlier LINK report is that LINK now calls complete_module_frame, but this independent UNLINK entry point still performs only import-binding validation, which does not reject this property assignment. Apply module-frame qualification here as well, or explicitly qualify initialization effects before resolving constants.

Qualify constant-module initialization before resolving actions
When a supplied constant module changes its exports during initialization, this resolver can publish stale action values despite successful context qualification. Inserting Object.assign(l,{GROUP_ACTIONS:{...d,PARENT_GROUP_UNLINK:"changed"}}) immediately after l.GROUP_ACTIONS=d in WAWebGroupType is accepted by unlink_contract and still emits parent_group_unlink, whereas executing that module and the original helper returns changed for a parent-group UNLINK without a reason. Fresh evidence beyond the earlier handler-initialization reports is that this mutation resides in the defining constant module, leaving the fingerprinted handler entirely unchanged. Qualify initialization effects in the constant-module slices as well, or reject modules whose runtime exports cannot be established by the static resolver.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Reject unmodeled hoisted declarations after return
When the UNLINK helper contains a function declaration after its final return, this early exit skips the declaration even though JavaScript hoists it before executing the helper. Appending ;function e(){} immediately before helper I's closing brace is accepted by unlink_contract and produces unchanged decision rows, but executing the modified original helper throws TypeError: e.attrString is not a function because the declaration replaces parameter e. Validate declarations throughout the helper body before evaluation, or model their hoisting, rather than treating all statements after a return as semantically irrelevant.
