Summary

Add Claude Code and Codex repository marketplaces so users can register polymorfa/agent-kit and install polymorfa@polymorfa. Build a static docs skills endpoint that the real skills npm CLI can discover and install from over HTTP.

The generated endpoint is ignored by Git. Docs builds must run python3 scripts/build_skills_index.py at a pinned revision and copy dist/well-known-skills/ to the site's /.well-known/skills/ static path. This PR does not deploy that endpoint.

The review follow-up rejects ambiguous YAML descriptions, rebuilds generated output before JSON validation, and rejects output paths that overlap skill sources. All three unsolicited findings are fixed with regression coverage. Skill and generated endpoint bytes remain unchanged.

Impact

Area Change and evidence
Claude Code distribution .claude-plugin/marketplace.json names marketplace polymorfa, owner Polymorfa, and one root-sourced plugin. Native local and Git-backed installs passed.
Codex distribution .agents/plugins/marketplace.json uses OpenAI's catalog format and the existing portable root manifest. Local and Git-backed installs passed with CLI 0.163.0. No OpenAI-curated listing is claimed.
Docs build artifact scripts/build_skills_index.py creates dist/well-known-skills/index.json and <name>/<file>. Entries contain name, description, and files. Nested references are copied. .gitignore excludes generated output. Docs deployment remains a separate gate.
Validation, regression tests and README scripts/validate.py checks catalogs and rebuilt metadata, inventory, and file bytes. Six tests in tests/test_skills_index.py cover metadata, output safety and recovery from stale artifacts, and run in CI. README provides per-client paths and distinguishes verified installs from publication.

No impact table

Area Reason and evidence
Barback/HyperMeow, runners/Bartender, Temporal This kit contains packaging and skill instructions only. No library dependency, backend code, or workflow implementation changed. Diff is limited to catalogs, Python scripts and tests, CI, README, ignore rules, and session checkpoints.
Customer API, Admin API/MCP, logs and audit logs No endpoint, authority, datastore, credential, or logging change. Existing public-docs MCP URLs and transport assertions remain unchanged in mcp.json, .mcp.json, and scripts/validate.py.
Inspector, Console, Admin Console No UI or runtime code in this patch. No screenshots are applicable.
SDK and product CLI No API contract, package dependency, SDK operation, or product CLI command changed. Client installer commands affect kit distribution only.
API docs, Help Center, marketing and release contracts No product behavior or contract version changed. README documents kit installation. No docs-site runtime files or customer release records changed.
Existing skills, Gemini and Cursor packaging Skill bytes, GEMINI.md, gemini-extension.json, root plugin.json, .claude-plugin/plugin.json, and .cursor-plugin/plugin.json are unchanged. Native Gemini/Cursor acceptance is unavailable because those CLIs are absent; no new native capability is claimed.
Availability, flags, billing and deployment No feature flags or infrastructure changed. The existing .github/workflows/validate.yml adds regression tests alongside its unchanged validator command; hosted CI is authorized. No deployment workflow was enabled. No marketplace submission, publication, merge, or docs deployment performed.

Verification

Review follow-up at e0ed733c8900c7912b7181634fba8a500519fae6:

  • All three inline findings verified and fixed: YAML syntax, rebuild order, and overlapping output.
  • python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v: all six tests pass. The original scripts reproduced the three defects. Fixtures stay under ~/.polymorfa-agent-work/.
  • python3 scripts/build_skills_index.py, python3 scripts/validate.py, and git diff --check: pass. Malformed generated JSON recovers; malformed source JSON still fails.
  • Compared generated output against the builder at eec5dd45: no changes to index.json or either generated SKILL.md. No skill sources changed.
  • origin/main at 09df11ff9ae6acecc76bea77e3d8fc9ebf5f0269 is already an ancestor; no merge or rebase needed. Normal push used.
  • Hosted CI passed for this head: push validation and pull-request validation. Both ran the validator and all six regression tests. No review requested and no merge performed.

Original marketplace acceptance, recorded on 2026-10-19:

  • python3 scripts/validate.py passed, including the new catalogs and generated endpoint.
  • Claude Code 2.1.303: claude plugin validate . and claude plugin validate .claude-plugin/plugin.json passed without warnings.
  • Isolated CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR: local marketplace add/install passed. Git marketplace add from https://github.com/polymorfa/agent-kit.git#feat/marketplace-installs and claude plugin install polymorfa@polymorfa passed. plugin details reported both skills and polymorfa-docs MCP. This is inventory, not a live MCP query.
  • Isolated CODEX_HOME: local marketplace add/install passed. codex plugin marketplace add polymorfa/agent-kit --ref feat/marketplace-installs --json and codex plugin add polymorfa@polymorfa --json passed. Local listing showed installed/enabled; Git cache contained both skills, mcp.json, and plugin.json.
  • skills 1.7.2: help confirms project scope by default. Served generated output from a scratch static root at /.well-known/skills/ with Python's HTTP server. From a throwaway project, npx --yes skills add http://localhost:18743 --agent codex --skill '*' --yes --copy installed both skills. Installed bytes matched sources.
  • The Git skills path also installed both skills with npx --yes skills add https://github.com/polymorfa/agent-kit --agent cursor --skill '*' --yes --copy. This checks installer targeting, not Cursor runtime loading.
  • Builder fixtures verified nested references and stale output cleanup. Corrupted output bytes and source symlinks were rejected.
  • git diff --check passed. Native runtime installation used implementation SHA 0bd7c800185c5c63d241dab3d001d5fb3fe1e369; the subsequent commit adds acceptance evidence only. Python validation passed again at handoff.

Sources checked on 2026-10-19:

Session provenance and UI evidence

Codex, gpt-6.1-sol, through T3 Code, acting on purpshell's approved implementation brief. Fresh clone from main 09df11ff9ae6acecc76bea77e3d8fc9ebf5f0269. No contribution guide or AGENTS.md exists in this repository. No automated review was requested.

Committed sanitized session checkpoint records scope, tool versions, commands, sources, acceptance, and capture limitations. No complete transcript or thread ID was supplied. No UI changed, so UI screenshots are not applicable. No Linear/Notion synchronization is claimed.

Review-fix checkpoint records this follow-up. The docs site vendors skills at eec5dd45; its skill/index bytes are unchanged by these fixes. Adopting builder safeguards requires a separate pin update.

Rollout and rollback

After owner review and merge to main, repository marketplace commands can use the default branch:

claude plugin marketplace add polymorfa/agent-kit
claude plugin install polymorfa@polymorfa
codex plugin marketplace add polymorfa/agent-kit
codex plugin add polymorfa@polymorfa

The existing Gemini path remains gemini extensions install https://github.com/polymorfa/agent-kit. Skills-only Git installation already works. npx skills add https://docs.polymorfa.com remains gated on serving this artifact through the docs site and checking the deployed endpoint. No stable or nightly API/package release is part of this change.

Rollback is to revert the catalog/builder changes, restore README instructions, and remove a deployed skills artifact if one is later published. Existing clients can uninstall the plugin and remove the polymorfa marketplace using their client commands. Skill-only installs are separate and can be removed with the skills installer. No database migration or customer-data repair is required. This PR is not merged or published by the agent.

23-23: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

Handle a empty description value and multi-byte edge cases safely.

The regex ([^\n]+) requires at least one character, so an empty value fails the match first. The indexing match[2][0] is therefore safe. However, a description with only whitespace (for example description: ) passes the check and publishes a blank description. Add a .strip() check to reject it.

Proposed fix
-        if not match or match[1] != directory.name or match[2][0] in "'\"|>{[&*!":
+        if not match or match[1] != directory.name or not match[2].strip() or match[2].strip()[0] in "'\"|>{[&*!":

Update the description validation in the condition using match so it rejects
values that are empty after stripping whitespace before checking the first
character. Preserve the existing directory-name and leading-character checks.
