feat!: consolidate the browser UI packages into @polymorfa/ui-kit - #365
Consolidates six browser UI packages into @polymorfa/ui-kit and its subpaths. React stays optional; definePolymorfa becomes defineUiKit, and pmfa-* names stay unchanged. Preserves #363's authorship and the current native SDK changes. Includes the linked package guides and keeps a 320px Inbox thread beside the list in narrow two-pane layouts.
Verification
Current correction d90b7959: UI Kit build, package and root typechecks, 12 appearance tests, lint and formatting passed. The same real-browser check failed before the layout fix and passed afterward at 562, 620, 1024 and 390px. Package contents include all six guides without a local install. The actual generator and 10 snippet controls passed; all 186 complete programs and API/package metadata are unchanged. Exact-head hosted compiler, native and installed-package checks are pending; previous-head green results are historical.
Synthetic in-memory source, no provider or deployed API. Chromium 153, fresh context, all network requests refused. Before/after at the same 562px outer width:
Unpublished source. Registry publication, first UI Kit package setup and downstream pin adoption remain separate gates. No release, deprecation, deployment or feature flag was changed.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Consolidated browser UI capabilities into @polymorfa/ui-kit, with dedicated entry points for React, Web Components, appearance, store, and developer tools. React remains optional unless you use React features.
Updated Inbox layouts to show the conversation list and thread side by side from 560px wide, with a 320px thread. Back appears when the panes cannot fit side by side and now has a visible border.
Renamed the Web Components setup API to defineUiKit.
Documentation
Updated setup guides and examples to reflect the unified package, its entry points, and the renamed setup API.
… when it cannot
The Inbox's layout rules used unnamed container queries. The thread pane
is a container too, so the rule that shows Back read the thread's width
and Back appeared beside the list in the two-pane layout. The Inbox's
container is now named and its rules query it.
The list and the thread sit side by side from 560px of Inbox width
(was 700px); the list's minimum is 240px, leaving the thread 320px.
Back has a visible border where it shows.

Replace @polymorfa/browser, @polymorfa/react, @polymorfa/elements,
@polymorfa/ui, @polymorfa/store and @polymorfa/devtools with one package,
@polymorfa/ui-kit, using subpath exports: the root, /internal, /react,
/web-components (+ /chat, /templates, /calls), /appearance, /store
(+ /store/react) and /devtools (+ /devtools/production).
Sources and tests move without behavior changes. definePolymorfa becomes
defineUiKit (DefineUiKitOptions) with no alias; the pmfa- prefix stays.
react and react-dom are optional peers used only by the React subpaths.
Examples, native host bridges, READMEs, the architecture doc and the
changelog use the new imports. Browser call reports name @polymorfa/ui-kit.
The pull request consolidates six browser UI packages into @polymorfa/ui-kit and its subpaths. It updates package configuration, source imports, tests, examples, and documentation. It also changes Inbox responsive breakpoints, container queries, column widths, and Back-button styling.
Changes: UI Kit package consolidation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Consolidated package and API packages/ui-kit/package.json, packages/*/package.json, packages/ui-kit/src/*
A new UI Kit manifest replaces six separate package manifests. Internal imports use local entry points. The Web Components initializer and options type are renamed to defineUiKit and DefineUiKitOptions.
Workspace configuration and validation package.json, tsconfig.json, vitest.config.ts, packages/ui-kit/tsconfig.build.json, packages/ui-kit/test/*, packages/*/test/*
Workspace and test aliases now target the UI Kit package. Tests use the updated source entry points. New package integration tests check packed contents, dependencies, imports, and React subpaths.
Examples and integrations examples/*, packages/dotnet/examples/*, packages/rust/*
Examples and platform integrations use the UI Kit package and subpaths instead of the former package names.
Documentation describes the consolidated package, subpaths, optional React peer dependencies, migration mappings, and renamed Web Components API. Snippet source metadata is updated.
Responsive Inbox layout

Summary
Inbox breakpoints and styling packages/ui-kit/src/appearance/styles.ts, packages/ui-kit/test/appearance/appearance.test.ts, CHANGELOG.md, internal/pr-evidence/sdk365-layout-20261030/*
Inbox responsive rules use the named pmfa-inbox container and a 559px single-column breakpoint. List column minimums decrease to 240px, and the Back button receives explicit styling. The test checks the container queries; added evidence records before-and-after layout measurements.
Package consumers encounter broken links in the published UI Kit documentation; fix the shared guide and links before release.

Add the shared chat guide to the published documentation.
@polymorfa/ui-kit publishes docs, but docs/chat-components.md does not exist. All nine references in appearance.md, browser.md, react.md, and web-components.md therefore resolve to a missing file in the repository and cannot resolve from the published package.
Add packages/ui-kit/docs/chat-components.md with controlled-conversation-list and compose-media sections, then change every reference to the same-directory target chat-components.md. One shared guide and one path update across the four guides fixes all affected links.
Apply this replacement to all nine references, and add the shared packages/ui-kit/docs/chat-components.md guide with both required anchors.
