Welcome to Rob's 1970's and 1980's Retro Computing Archive.

Please visit the main landing page which has a short visual and textual overview of each repository and why it may be of interest to you.

During the late 1970's and 1980's I was a hard-core, low-level, prolific software and hardware developer, a "builder of everything". This GitHub site will strive, amoung other goals, to bring some of those projects back to life in a documented and open source manner. Fortunately I had documented, archived and stored away most of those projects at the time for future historical recollection. Almost all of these documented projects are from the first 24 years of my life.

Note that this site and its many dozens of tutorials (written just in a few weeks by myself, a real human) are not A.I generated as many people purport to be the case. I am creating a new historical narrative for a period of early computing for which many of those people are no longer alive and thus be able to retell their own stories + set the correct historical context as I am doing from my own direct perspective. We now live in a period of time where fact can no longer be distinguished from fiction.

Generally speaking, the documentation will primarily be of interest to Z-80 and CP/M-80 people, along with some other projects relating to digital music + MIDI synthesis machines and peripheral hardware pinned to the 1980s. A focus will also be made to document some machines for future historical reference. Also, I was and continue to be one of the core Exidy Sorcerer low-level software and hardware experts from the get-go of the machine's release in the late 1970s, for which I have documented several of my key projects of that era that will still be of interest to current real or virtual users of the Exidy Sorcerer.
