Summary

Bash scripts showed no syntax colors in nvim. An old parser started treesitter, which turned off the normal highlighting, but no highlight rules existed for it. Now the bash parser is installed, and a language without highlight rules keeps the normal highlighting.

Changes

  • Install the bash parser and start treesitter only for languages that have highlight rules

Review notes

  • Old parsers in the nvim-treesitter plugin directory stay on disk; this change does not remove them
