GitHub starts moving the ubuntu-latest label to the Ubuntu 26 image on 2026-10-19 and finishes by 2026-11-19. Pin to ubuntu-24.04, which is what ubuntu-latest resolves to today, so the image does not change underneath these workflows. Ubuntu 24.04 stays supported for about two more years.
