Summary

• Set the atag-poll.sh default Claude invocation to Opus low effort while preserving caller overrides after --.
• Add an interim ADR documenting the run-3b/3c/3d/3e evidence, costs, timings, and why this is temporary.
• Add handoff notes and link follow-up issue atag: run full model and effort eval for poller defaults #37 for the broader model/effort evaluation.
• Sync canonical atag changes into Claude/Codex plugin copies.

Decision

Interim default: claude -p --model opus --permission-mode acceptEdits --effort low.

This is explicitly temporary pending issue #37. The scanner still avoids no-op token burn; when the poller wakes Claude, the run-3 data says correctness favors Opus low.

Follow-up review note:

• Independent Haiku review found one launch blocker in the first PR cut: run_with_timeout() had lost exec, so timeout/interrupt handling could kill only the wrapper subshell and potentially leave Claude orphaned.
• Fixed in 0d752df by restoring exec "$@" in canonical + plugin poller scripts.
• Added a timeout regression test in all synced copies.

Verification after the fix:

• bash -n for canonical, plugin, and active installed poller scripts
• diff -qr -x dev canonical vs Claude plugin, Codex plugin, and active installed copies
• bun test focused atag canonical/plugin suites: 249 pass, 0 fail
