Geiger Counter Walkthrough

Geiger mode is used after an alert points to a specific Wi-Fi or Bluetooth source. It turns repeated signal readings into a simple proximity aid so you can move carefully and see whether the signal gets stronger or weaker.

When to Use It

Use Geiger mode when an alert identifies a nearby source and you want to narrow down where it may be. Wi-Fi Geiger is for Wi-Fi access points or Wi-Fi-like broadcasts. Bluetooth Geiger is for Bluetooth trackers, beacons, and devices.

Steps After a Device Pings an Alert

  1. Open the alert card on the Status screen.
  2. Read the plain-language summary and confirm the target identity, such as Wi-Fi network, Wi-Fi hardware address, Bluetooth name, or Bluetooth address.
  3. Open the matching Wi-Fi or Bluetooth measurement screen if you want to compare the target with the broader device list.
  4. Start the matching Geiger mode for that target.
  5. Move slowly and pause between steps so the scan values can update.
  6. Watch whether the signal becomes stronger or weaker. Stronger usually means closer; weaker usually means farther away or blocked by walls, vehicles, bodies, or other material.
  7. If Bluetooth sound playback is available for the device family, use it only when appropriate and when you are close enough for the action to make sense.

Reading the Signal

Signal strength is not a ruler. A device behind metal, inside a bag, under a seat, or around a corner can look weaker than a farther device in open air. Use Geiger mode as a direction-finding helper, not as proof that a device is in a specific object.

Move in a small grid rather than walking quickly in one line. If the signal peaks in one area and drops when you move away, mark that area mentally and approach from another direction. Repeated peaks from multiple angles are more useful than one strong reading.

Safety Notes

Do not handle unknown devices if doing so would be unsafe or illegal. If the context is sensitive, preserve screenshots and exports before changing the scene. The app helps organize evidence, but judgment and local rules still matter.
