What was broken

Live E2E of Capture UI v2 (2026-10-12, SDK 19.3.0 from the CDN): while recording, clicking Pause adds the "Paused" label. The pill is centred (left:50%; translateX(-50%), width:max-content), so it grew to both sides and the Pause/Resume button moved ~27px to the right. Clicking the same spot again to resume hit the timer instead (shot capture-31-recording-paused-pill-grows). Report: design-handoffs/e2e-live-2026-10-12/capture.md.

The fix

setPaused measures the pill's right edge before and after toggling the label and shifts the pill left by the difference (margin for the centred pill, position.left for a dragged one), so the buttons stay where they were. Phones (≤600px) keep the full-width docked pill untouched.

Checks

  • npx jest: 31 suites / 524 tests pass.
  • Built locally and ran it on a localhost page against the live Messenger (E2E QA project, fake display stream): Pause button x = 720 before pause, 720 while paused (pill 229 → 282px), 720 after resume; margin back to 0.
  • Build artifacts (build/, published/) are not part of this PR — no release.

(Branch is fix-… with a dash: a remote branch named fix blocks fix/… refs in this repo.)

…s "Paused"

The centred recording pill widened by the "Paused" label to both sides, so
Resume jumped ~27px right of where Pause was clicked; clicking the same spot
again hit the timer. The pill now grows to the left (centred and dragged
pills); phones keep the full-width docked pill.

Found in the live E2E of capture UI v2 (10-12).
