This documentation presents business-level conception and planning of the project.

Background

Swinburne Vietnam is an alliance program between Swinburne University of Technology and FPT University to open study locations in Hanoi, HCMC, Danang, and recently Cantho. As part of student life, student clubs and communities are formed in these campuses, organising occasional student activities and events.

ITea Lab is one such community, an innovation hub dedicated to Computer Science at Swinburne Vietnam. The Lab also organises occasional workshops, tech talks, and bonding activities.

It is observed that the event organising process at ITea Lab (and other clubs) can benefit from a centralised platform for announcing events and providing registration form for participants.

In terms of technical background, the popular Google Wallet platform provides an ecosystem for digital event tickets, with functionalities for checking in via QR code or NFC Tap, automatic reminder, and automatic expiration.

Scope

The Tradao project aims to provide a centralised platform for event management at Swinburne Vietnam (HCMC), supporting organisers and participants.

Objectives and Goals

Stakeholders

  1. Event organisers
    • These are users of Tradao who represents clubs, communities, or school authorities, in announcing and marketing new events. It is also assumed that the organisers (or a particular member) has the job of validating event tickets.
  2. Event participants
    • These are users of Tradao who browses the application to look for upcoming events and register into interested events. The primary participant demographics would be Swinburne Vietnam students at the HCMC location; the secondary are students from other universities; the tertiary are graduates, professionals or staff.
