Address review on NVIDIA#809. When the NodeWright is gone, a full reset still strips an orphaned cordon, and the status patch then returns NotFound. That printed a misleading warning although there is nothing to clear. Treat NotFound as a no-op. Add specs for the skipped paths: a failed node reset and --package leave Status.ConfigUpdates alone. HandleConfigUpdatescan persist a new entry after reset starts and before this patch runs. This unconditionalconfigUpdates:nullmerge patch can delete that entry. The next reconciliation sees the ConfigMap already synchronized, so it does not restore the entry. The affected node can therefore proceed without its config-derived interrupt.Capture the NodeWright resource version before
resetNodeAnnotations, and apply this clear with that version as an optimistic-concurrency precondition. If the patch conflicts, preserve the current map instead of retrying against the newer version.Suggested fix

The reset change checks out: the clear goes through the nodewrights/status subresource as a merge patch, and configUpdates has been in the NodeWright CRD since operator v0.18.0, so no version gate is needed. Two things inline: the RELEASE_NOTES entry, and --package, which keeps the same bug.

- Line 234: Update the note describing the full-reset behavior to say that
clearing NodeWright’s recorded config changes is attempted only for non-dry-run
resets without --package, after at least one node reset succeeds and no
node-state update error occurs. State that this is independent of
--skip-batch-reset, skipped when no dynamic client is available, and that
non-NotFound patch errors produce a warning while reset continues; NotFound is
ignored.

A reset removes every node's state but left the per-package config update keys behind. With them present HasInterrupt ignores a package's own interrupt, so the restarted run could finish without running it. A full reset clears status.configUpdates; reset --package clears only that package's keys. Both run after every node reset succeeded, and not on --dry-run. A missing NodeWright is ignored, other patch failures warn. Fixes NVIDIA#776 Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Signed-off-by: Noah Kontur <nkontur@nvidia.com>

Needs changes: 1 blocking (reset --package name:version clears configUpdates[name], ...).

reset --package name:version cleared configUpdates[name], which is keyed by name only, while nodes could still hold another version of the package. Skip the clear in that case, and reword the docs and help to match. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Signed-off-by: Noah Kontur <nkontur@nvidia.com>

Summary
kubectl nodewright reset <name>removes every node's state but leavesStatus.ConfigUpdatesbehind. With the keys still recorded, the restarted run treats the package's own interrupt as absent (NodeState.HasInterruptonly reports interrupts matching those keys). A package with its ownrebootthen completes at (config, complete) and the node is uncordoned without the interrupt ever running. This is the
resetcase of defect 3 in #776. The CLI now clears the keys after a full reset succeeds on every node.Changes
operator/cmd/cli/app/reset.go: after the node annotations are reset, merge-patch{"status":{"configUpdates":null}}. It runs independently of--skip-batch-reset, because that flag only governs batch state. It is skipped when resetting any node failed (the remaining nodes still carry state that relies on the keys), on--dry-run, and on the--packagepath (which has its own code path).operator/cmd/cli/app/reset_test.go: three specs (full reset, with--skip-batch-reset, dry run), and aPatchstub in the existing cordon specs, which now reach the new call.docs/user-guide/cli.mdand the command's long help describe the behavior. Not in this PR
Clearing the keys when a config cycle completes is deliberately left out. Done naively it makes every complete node look unfinished and re-run its own interrupt on the next reconcile; #776 ties that to the per-node
interruptCompletefield (Option A). The same goes for defect 1 and fornode reset(per node, while the keys are per package).Testing
go test ./cmd/cli/...passes. The two clearing specs fail against the unfixedreset.go.golangci-lint run ./cmd/cli/...: 0 issues.Part of #776. Related: #788 (defect 2).
