Addresses all four findings from the October 25 codebase review while keeping ElizaOS as the shared desktop/CLI engine.
Archive terminal automation receipts and unreferenced approvals in private indexed SQLite history. Keep active work and 256 recent terminal receipts hot, preserve permanent replay protection, reconcile interrupted publication, and fail closed on unavailable history. Old results retain their original authorization.
Exercise the real compression command and recovery helpers with durable native-memory fixtures and the production SQLite projection. Cover partial native failure, projection transaction failure, incomplete compensation, successful compression, and failed-replay cleanup across restart.
Bound combined provider stdout/stderr to 8 MiB by default; overflow is a nonzero failure rather than a truncated model answer.
Terminate Windows provider process trees with bounded system taskkill, report termination failures, handle natural-exit races, and forward Devin cancellation. Add native Windows PR acceptance for real launcher/worker cancellation and timeout.
Validation:
188 boundary tests, all workspace/tooling types, lint, monorepo/acceptance checks and zero-production-advisory policy passed locally.
7 source-runtime tests and 4 native desktop journeys passed locally.
Real linked-Codex coding passed through ElizaOS in CLI (29.9s) and desktop (41.9s), with source repair independently verified.
Native Windows acceptance passed all 9 provider tests, including real launcher/worker cancellation and timeout, capture budgets, Devin signal forwarding and explicit termination failure.
Linux source/native desktop and clean-HEAD packaged acceptance passed in CI. CodeQL findings were corrected without suppressions. Final-commit CI passed validation, CodeQL, all 9 native Windows provider tests, Linux source/native desktop and clean-HEAD packaged acceptance. Archive first-creation/reconciliation and lifetime-approval follow-ups are included in the 188 passing local boundary tests.
Cold history remains on disk indefinitely; this removes the fixed history-count ceiling, not physical storage limits. No wallet actions or upstream compatibility patches were removed.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Automation records and approvals are retained beyond the active ledger, with lookups available after restart. The app now refuses new work when required history is missing or conflicting.
Provider commands now enforce a configurable combined output limit (8 MiB by default) and report when that limit is exceeded.
Bug Fixes
Cancellation and timeouts now wait for process-tree termination, helping prevent provider processes from continuing after a request ends.
Devin commands now honor cancellation signals, so interrupted requests can stop promptly.
This pull request adds SQLite-backed history and bounded hot-ledger retention for desktop automation. It also updates provider-command output limits, process-tree termination, and Devin cancellation forwarding. New boundary tests cover automation retention, conversation recovery, and provider-command behavior.

Summary
SQLite archive and record validation apps/desktop/src/main/bot-automation-history.ts
Adds a SQLite archive for terminal fires and approvals, with record validation, lookup, reconciliation, and transactional retirement.
Ledger retention and archive integration apps/desktop/src/main/bot-automation-ledger.ts, apps/desktop/src/main/bot-automation-broker.ts
The ledger retains active work and up to 256 recent terminal fires, archives other terminal fires and superseded approvals, and uses history for lookups. The broker reuses the original approval for authorization checks.
Retention validation and operational documentation tests/boundary/automation-retention.test.ts, docs/engineering/automation-history.md
Tests cover retention, restart recovery, replay lookup, and missing or corrupt history. Documentation describes retention, recovery, and backup behavior.

Tests inject compression and replay rollback failures, then check persisted native and projected messages after reopening the stores. The follow-up documents coverage and its limits.

The runner enforces a shared stdout and stderr budget and reports output overflow or termination failure. Tests cover output limits and the documentation describes the results.

Cancellation and deadlines await process-tree termination. Devin forwards abort signals, tests cover cancellation and inherited pipes, and CI adds a Windows job for the provider-command boundary test.
