Solid RAR archives store each file as a continuation of the files before it, so rardecode cannot open those entries on their own. Pages after the first now come from one sequential reader that keeps its position while you read forward and starts over for an earlier page. Closing the book stops a running decode.
The decoded page cache also evicts by total pixels, so eight large scans no longer stay in memory together. A ZIP cut short by a download reports a ZIP format error instead of an unknown format.
Comic chapters use the innermost folder, so an archive that wraps its chapter folders in one top folder still lists them.
EPUB layout no longer rejects a whole book for MathML, media or foreign markup. MathML shows its alternative text; audio, video, iframe and object show their fallback content; epub:switch uses its default branch; other namespaces keep their text. Chapter titles follow the same rules. A missing manifest file fails only when the book reads it, so a missing unused font no longer blocks the book.
Confidence Score: 5/5
The PR appears safe to merge; no actionable issues remain from this review.
Summary
Adds solid CBR support and opens EPUBs with more kinds of fallback content.
Solid RAR comics can show pages after the first.
EPUB pages keep readable text around unsupported markup.
The decoded-page cache evicts images when their total pixel count grows too large.
Comic chapters use the innermost folder in each page name.
EPUB books can open when an unused manifest file is missing.
Truncated ZIP files report a ZIP format error.
Since the previous review, epub:switch now selects its default branch by namespace as well as name. No new actionable issues were found. The two earlier, unnumbered findings are addressed: solid reads check for closure while draining entries, and reference checks skip discarded EPUB cases.

Solid RAR entries depend on the files before them, so they share one
sequential reader that restarts only for an earlier page. The decoded
page cache also evicts by pixel count, and a truncated ZIP reports a
ZIP format error.
MathML reads as its alternative text, audio, video and object show
their fallback content, epub:switch uses its default branch, and other
foreign markup keeps its text. A manifest file that is missing fails
only when the book reads it.

📝 Summary
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved support for solid RAR archives, including reading pages out of order.
Added bounds on decoded-image caching to help limit memory use when viewing large pages.
ZIP files that are truncated or malformed now return a clearer format error.
Improved EPUB text extraction for MathML, switch content, and embedded media, and clarified errors for missing resources.
Improvements
Comic chapters in nested folders are now organized by their innermost directory.
The changes update solid RAR entry access, ZIP error reporting, decoded-image cache limits, folder-based chapter grouping, and EPUB text and fallback handling.
Solid RAR entries use a shared sequential reader, while non-solid entries open directly. Tests cover out-of-order page reads and reads after closing the book.
ZIP validation and image cache limits internal/book/book.go, internal/book/book_test.go
ZIP-signature files that fail archive opening return a filename-wrapped zip.ErrFormat. The decoded-image cache evicts entries when its count or decoded-pixel limit is exceeded. Tests check both behaviors.
Folder chapter grouping
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Group chapters by innermost directory internal/book/chapters.go, internal/book/chapters_test.go
Folder chapters now use the innermost directory as the chapter name. A test checks chapters nested under one wrapping folder.

EPUB text and fallback rendering internal/book/epub.go, internal/book/epub_render.go, internal/book/epub_test.go
Text extraction and rendering handle switch defaults, MathML alternative text, and foreign-namespace children. Missing manifest resources are reported when read. Tests check fallback text and chapter titles.
hawkff/cbzr#13: Adds document chapter extraction and uses comic folder chapters as a fallback; this change updates how folder chapters are grouped.

When an epub:switch case contains srcset, this recursion rejects the document before the renderer selects its valid default branch. Validate the selected default branch instead of references in case branches that the renderer will not use.

The solid reader now decodes skipped files in chunks that check for a
closed book. Reference checks skip epub:case branches the layout never
shows, and switch and alttext handling applies only to the epub and
MathML namespaces.
