Greptile SummaryThis update completes the graph-aware Python signature-change workflow, including transactional edits, call-site rewriting, contract validation, CLI and MCP exposure, and supporting documentation. The previously identified call-site identity and qualified-staticmethod handling issues are addressed. Confidence Score: 5/5Safe to merge; no outstanding blocking issues remain. The complete-call-span finding was resolved without explanation by greptile-apps[bot]. Because the provided Greptile bot login is greptile-apps, the resolver manually resolved it without explanation. The current call-site key includes path, start line, start column, end line, and end column. The same-line call contract finding was resolved without explanation by greptile-apps[bot]. Because the provided Greptile bot login is greptile-apps, the resolver manually resolved it without explanation. The contract now includes the call column in its identity. The qualified staticmethod decorator finding was resolved without explanation by greptile-apps[bot]. Because the provided Greptile bot login is greptile-apps, the resolver manually resolved it without explanation. The current staticmethod check uses the shared decorator classifier, which supports qualified decorators. 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift
Translate call-site columns before contract verification. ChangeSignature._candidate stores pre-edit graph coordinates in SignatureSite. The patcher applies original-byte spans, and structural_delta.observe builds after sites from the re-ingested file. No translation or stable identity connects these coordinates. _call_key includes the column, while _enforce_contract compares post-edit site keys with pre-edit report.unmapped and report.sites keys. An earlier same-line rewrite can therefore shift a later call. If that site has a possibly_missing verdict, _changed_site_fault can report the valid rewritten call as unmapped, and _enforce_contract can roll back the transaction. Use a stable cross-version identity or translate each original span to its post-edit coordinates.

`@staticmethod def f(self, x)` is legal Python and its `self` is an
ordinary parameter. `_take_receiver` checked the first parameter's NAME
before `_is_static`, so it popped that parameter as a receiver; the
requested `new_params` then re-added it and the tool wrote
def helper(self, self, a, n: int):
a duplicate parameter, and a SyntaxError in the file it had just edited.
Checking staticness first makes the operation refuse and roll back: the
call-site binding still counts a receiver for a static method, so
`K.helper(1, 2)` cannot be mapped and the postcondition stops it. A
refusal that leaves the source untouched is the correct outcome here,
and is what the new test asserts.
Restoring the old order reddens that test alone. 77 passed across the
signature and editing files.
`helper(x for x in xs)` gives the call a `generator_expression` as its arguments node rather than an `argument_list`, and the guard for that had no test. Asserting only that the site is unmapped would not have covered it: removing the guard still refuses this call, but by an arity miscount that reads the generator's own children as two positional arguments. The right answer for the wrong reason, and it stops being right as soon as the callee takes two parameters. The test asserts the UNREADABLE reason, so removing the guard reddens it.
`def f(a, b=a)` renamed a->x wrote `def f(x, b=a)` and reported success. A default is evaluated at DEFINITION time in the enclosing scope, so that file raises NameError the moment it is imported -- and it PARSES, so the syntax postcondition could not catch it. `_body_references` walks `FIELD_BODY` only, so a reference in the parameter list was invisible to it. The rename now refuses when a carried default reads the name being renamed, naming the parameter whose default is the problem. Two tests: the refusal, and a control where the default does not read the renamed name and the rename still applies -- so this cannot be satisfied by refusing every default. Removing the check reddens the first alone. 80 passed across the signature and editing files.
A bare old name resolves to the PRIMARY definition's spec, so an explicitly spelled parameter that happened to match the primary compared equal to it and counted as carried. Every override then kept its own spelling: asking for `a: int` on a hierarchy where an override declares `a: str` left that override un-annotated, the opposite of the request. `carried` now comes from the raw `new_params` -- a bare identifier naming an old parameter -- which is the distinction the caller actually made and which spec equality cannot recover. Two tests: an explicit spelling re-annotates every override, and a bare name still keeps each override's own annotation. The control matters here: re-annotating unconditionally would satisfy the first and break the documented bare-name behaviour. Restoring the equality form reddens the first alone. 82 passed across the signature and editing files.
Emptying the parameter list of `def f(a): return a` wrote `def f(): return a` and reported success. That PARSES, so the syntax postcondition passes, and the arity contract only inspects call sites -- the NameError surfaces when the function is finally called, far from the edit. The plan now refuses when a parameter that is neither kept nor renamed is still read in any member's body. Renamed names are excluded, since the body rewrite follows those. Two tests: the refusal, and a control where the body never reads the dropped parameter and the removal still applies -- so this cannot be satisfied by refusing every removal. Disabling the check reddens the first alone. 84 passed across the signature and editing files.

The guard added for a dropped parameter still read in the body matched ANY identifier, so `obj.a` and `helper(a=1)` counted as reads of `a` and refused a removal that is perfectly legal. It now goes through `_is_a_reference`, the same test the body rewrite uses: an attribute's name and a keyword argument's label are spelled like the parameter but are not uses of it. Two parametrised cases cover both shapes, and the existing refusal test covers a real read. Dropping `_is_a_reference` reddens the two new cases and leaves the refusal green. 86 passed across the signature and editing files.
